Sniper Definition: "A skilled military shooter detailed to spot and pick off enemy soldiers from a concealed place". NOW sniper rifles have to be used like sniper rifles in Destiny. This is not to say that skilled players cannot use weapons outside of their intended roles. A good player can use a hand cannon or auto rifle at insane ranges, but this should not be the standard. Gone are the days of pulling off a lucky kill under fire. You are going to have to think AND act as a sniper should to utilize them effectively.

  • Since when is anything realistic in destiny? I meant in terms of first person shooters. Concealed distance? Every single map benefits short to medium play. I understand that "lucky snipes" where a thing, but majority of the time I could pull off the headshot from the flinch I was receiving. I trained myself, practiced, practiced, practised until I could pull of a kill with fair consistency. All of them would be fair engagements, there were already counters, staggering rounds. MIDA had that built in, remember when that weapon was a meta? The only way to get kills with snipers is to now camp bottle necks and hope they don't react as quick as you do.

  • I wasn't referring to realism as much as I was referring to definition. You stated in your original post that you could not use snipers like snipers anymore... This is an incorrect statement. They are called sniper rifles, therefore they adhere to a certain definition that spans many different games and serve as a role within the overall weapon balance. Bungie chose to call them sniper rifles, not DMRs, which is how they functioned in the previous meta-. I do not agree with your assessment, however you have every right to say that you want snipers to function as they did before, within the weapon balance.

  • It is a weapon balancing issue, because right now there is no reason to use snipers above any other special weapon. A new person picking up the game will find it hard to pick up snipers with little to no reward for there practice in most game modes. That doesn't mean that they're unusable, it just means that you would need to have a lot of skill to have high affect, but even then pulling off a triple down with a shotgun is far, far easier than with a sniper. Nerfs to damage in the LDR family was acceptable, but the flinch increase was uneccesary.

  • No. Now players have reason to use them on maps where they are actually appropriate. Because like every other weapon they actually flinch when shot. All the players in my clan who are good snipers before are still good snipers. If you're not good at sniping now it's because you were never good at it. Quit crying

I was good a sniping, I'm saying that the only way you can snipe is to camp bottle necks and hope they move in at head height. Using snipers on appropriate maps? So around 4 maybe 5 maps are appropriate, wow soooo many to choose from... And what you're saying is to the people that want to pickup sniping, are best not attempting it since they weren't good anyways? Don't you want more people sniping rather than running round with shotguns? Because it's easier to do that, than sniping thanks to the nerf. Oh and don't just say "quit crying" as if I wasn't making any valid points.

I want snipers to be used on appropriate maps. Which now they are. Of course, good snipers can still use them anywhere. And still do. If you sit around hardscoping you're going to fail. Enjoy the flinch. Oh, and you didn't make any valid points.

  • Yes because sniping is all about quick scoping *slow clap* Because a select few of maps suitable for sniping is fair when compared to the majority of maps which benefit shotguns, yeah, balanced... I'm gonna love the flinch thank you, now that I barely have time to dragscope a bodyshot thanks to the High RoF pulse meta.

  • You're finally catching on. The guns should operate correctly. And now they do. Now you can move on to crying about Map size.

  • Yeah... because map size is the whole point of my post isn't it? *Extra slow clap* so by your logic, everyone should only use a pulse rifle on every single map of the game. Damn this guy is a genius, Bungie needs to hire this snowflake.

Here you go. I'll spell it out for you. The larger Maps you should use longer-range weapons. The shorter Maps you should use the short-range weapons. Problem solved. Good snipers have no problem. And again. Your post didn't make a point. It's just you crying because your crush doesn't work quite the same as it used to. It's called balance you're going to have to get used to it.

  • You're right I didn't make a point, neither did you, you keep saying the same thing. What did that update balance? Time to kill of primaries and arch-types? No. "Ghost bullets" aka the horrible accuracy of weapons? No. Make autorifles relevant again? No. I get it, the nerf to snipers made YOU happy, but that doesn't make it balanced. And don't start saying "the nerf made my sniper friends happy" because that would be a plain lie.

  • If you can't see the balance you're pretty slow. But I'll point the simplest aspect out for you. Snipers now Flinch like every other gun in the game. Like they obviously should

  • They don't "flinch like every other weapon in the game" have you used one? You can easily control your shots with any other weapon. Snipers? Even if they only tickle you at max range for 5 damage you'd be lucky to hit a bodyshot.

  • I laughed at you. I didn't agree with you. If you're getting shot in the head from someone is only doing 5 damage and that's too much for you then you're just terrible. Again good snipers are not having these problems because they know how to to snipe. You sound like one of the campers who stand at the back of the map hoping for easy kills with no work attached. If you get shot first and shot repeatedly and you can't recover and put your reticle on a head then you deserve to lose. Quit crying

No matter what is shooting you no matter the damage the flinch is so much that it throws your scope. Have you used a sniper? Have you challenged a sniper? Because if you have, you'd know. I don't camp, I run and gun, the flinch just screws new over in situations. You obviously don't snipe, if you did, you'd understand the flinch.
