For seemingly years players have been asking for the 'great sniper rifle nerf'. They felt that sniper rifles weren't staggered enough and it wasn't fair they could return fire against scout rifles. Well that day has come, and it's worse than anyone could ever imagine.
Let me start off by saying that I've been with Bungie since day one. I played hundred of hours of Halo 1, 2, and 3. I forged maps on Reach, and bought every DLC they ever produced. I bought the collectors edition of Destiny for xbox 360 a second copy of Destiny for Xbox one, and have easily spent another one-hundred dollars on their "silver" currency.
Well now it's time to put my money where my mouth is. I will never buy another Bungie product.
Our relationship was great before, but somehow they lost sight of their repeat customers. Since the days of Halo and through to Destiny, their games were for elite players. Tournaments were held throughout the world and "getting good" truly took time. I've got over 18 days logged in the crucible on my Hunter alone.
I've logged over 10,000 snipes in PvP and must admit I had got rather good at it. And that's what the "complainers" never understood. I didn't win the scout rifle vs. sniper fight the first 1000 times I tried it. Instead I worked so hard to be come good enough to be able to pull the shots off quickly. And I'm not the only one. Sniper rifles were undoubtedly a large part of the Destiny Sweaty Community. I used it to help players through the Trials of Osiris, and I truly felt like there was a good balance in game. Snipers were long range and Shotguns were short range (Just kidding they're practically cross mapping now). But the void created by them allowed for sidearms and fusion rifles to be viable weapons.
All that is gone now.
Snipers are being staggered at incredible levels. It's almost completely impossible to return fire baring random acts of stupid luck. But that's not all that was ruined. Diversity was ruined. Guardian gg keeps a list of weapons being used in the crucible. Last I checked, only one of the top 10 special weapons being used was a shotgun. 20% of all kills alone were with shotguns. The next highest special weapon was snipers at merely 5 .5%. And we can already narrow it down to a list of 5 or 6 basic rolls that have become pervasive in the crucible for primaries. They follow the MIDA and Grasp arch-types.
Not to mention that snipers cant even combat a roaming super anymore. Which means every-time a super is popped, either the whole team runs or it's a team wipe. What happened to practice? to Skill?
One should be rewarded for having 19 days practice. If I can twitch shot and kill that super, I should be able to protect my team. Instead, Destiny has becoming less and less diverse and supporting the skill-less more and more. Heck! Even the sticky grenades track for a one hit kill. How much more easy and boring can it get?
Where is the place of solace for the skilled players? Bungie. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BOUGHT YOUR GAMES OVER AND OVER AND OVER not the people who log in for a few hours total time and then complain that it's too hard in the crucible. It's the people that turn their console on the moment they first free up and log into the crucible for a few hours every day. Why do you have to abandon them? Punish them? These people are your continued revenue after each game installment. I don't care if sniper were never "intended" to be aggressive weapons. Nothing is ever working as intended in destiny. Sniping developed into it's own unique niche. Now it's simply just shotguns running around playing kill confirmed. We should probably just rename the whole series Call of Destiny.
This is dissolving the sweaty community. Even last weekend even RealKrafty used a shotgun. And he's got more snipes than anybody by far.
That's not a game I want to play. And it represents a gaming company that's completely out of touch with it's users.
Bungie, you have lost my respect. And as a gamer, I really don't know what you can do to earn it back.
Maybe we can be friends again one day, but for now that's not possible.
Goodbye and goodluck. Here's one lifelong customer gone.

I sincerely felt this way when they ruined fusion rifles. But I'm back lol.
