It may date back before their first death, it might be when they were considered 'touched' by the travellers light.
Maybe at that point your body ceases to age , or succumb to illness and instead simply exists, which woulf also put thorn and its 'poisoning' into questions since they are immortal but I wont dive into that mess.

Scientifically speaking, a poison can do physical damage without a mortal subject (probably). Acid, for example, doesn't care if you're a rock, a human being, or an immortal space wizard. Many poisons work by attacking the fundamental molecular nature of cells and the body; even if a poison can't, technically speaking, kill you, it can still damage your physical form. Destiny-metaphysically speaking, Thorn is most likely poisoning your Light; our experiences with the Hive would suggest that that is more than possible.

Thorn's poison doesn't taint the body, it taints their Light. The gun itself is practically a vampire, sapping Light and Dark alike.

When I say first death, I don't mean first death as a Guardian, but their first death, period. Like when they were a regular person.
