Upon going into your settings menu, you can toggle an option to auto dismantle engrams of your choice, excluding legendary and exotic. Meaning when you pick up a green engram, instead of it taking up space, it gets automatically turned into weapon parts or armor plating. Edit: I didn't mean to be misleading and state my suggestion as fact. I made the post hastily and messed up. I'm glad we all agree it's a good idea though!
