Black lives matter is the most retarded movement. If you want to protest injustice, go to the city hall, get the proper permits to close a road, hold a parade and explain why you think injustice exists, and set up charities to make a difference. Don't go rioting and looting. You're losing all credibility by doing that. When a cop shoots a black guy it can't be the cops fault every time. Also why don't they focus on the issues that are in their community? Like the absurdly high homicide rates between blacks, for example. Why don't they focus on instilling the morals and values of MLKJ? Why not exercise non violence and civil disobedience like Rosa Parks? If there is systemic racism as they claim, then why not point to the laws that supposedly target them so we can fight it together?

As an AA I feel just embarrassed by the BLM riots. Every video of them acting like animals, committing crimes and destroying private property (of uninvolved parties) to "prove a point" just further alienates our race. Like the other poster said, organize some legal rallies and peaceful protests, gather some actual facts before arguing, and learn to speak proper english and drop the ghetto speak ffs

Violence gets people to the table. MLK was no fool. He organized a march in Albany. You know what happened? Nothing. The police were calm and professional. The protestors did their thing and it was forgotten. After that he picked protest venues virtually guaranteed to incite a violent response from police and locals. That made news. Dogs, fire hoses, and clubbed heads got people talking and noticing. In any case the status quo always favors the rule makers, which isn't surprising, so for change to happen the status quo must be made uncomfortable. MLK did it by presenting racist brutality for public consumption which sparked a lot of uncomfortable conversations between the rulers and the ruled. The violence is on the other side now, but it could still prove an effective tactic. How much disruption to commerce will the rulers accept before they come to the table? How long is BLM prepared to go with this? It is no coincidence that the Charlotte protest/riot targeted two places I 85, which costs the state about one million an hour in lost commerce to shut down, and uptown Charlotte, the financial heart of the city and home to a few major consumer banks. I wish rational discourse could always win, but we just aren't there yet as a species. Until then violence, if deployed steadily, correctly and over a long enough period of time, is pretty effective at getting people to actually talk and compromise.

MLKJ was trying to bait people into using violence to stop the protests from happening. He never fought back and condemned fighting back. His protests were peaceful up until the police and fire department started using excessive force to try and repel them. MLKJ was the Ghandi for his time. He never used violence, but he always disobeyed.
