Since this seems to be a recurring issue in just about every fireteam I assemble for the final raid boss, I figured I would throw out a few pointers on how to not die so often in the final raid encounter, among other pointers.
1. There's pillars on left and right (haven't had much trouble with people dying in center) that you can hide behind when the boss is shooting siva swarms. Use those to your protection. Have your fireteam make call outs to where the boss rotates to so you can position a pillar between you and the boss.
2. The shanks are the deadliest thing in this encounter besides the cannon captains. Make sure to kill them as well as possible to avoid being killed by them. If you're having trouble, use a sniper, that's sure to take each out in one shot.
3. Kill the captain as soon as you see him start the empowering buffs. You don't have to worry if you're empowered or not to grab the cannon. You can slam the boss with the empowerment while holding a cannon.
4. Don't panic. Just make sure to get your servitor down asap after you grab a cannon. The designated ball throwers will take care of throwing the bombs, just kill the servitor.
5. Stay positive. When you get mad, or start yelling at your team, you generally start playing worse. Plus everyone's morale goes down, causing them to play worse. Being an a-hole isn't going to get you anything but more attempts.
If scslayerage and epiccookies can two man it, we can 6 man it. This is how you better the community. Not by crying, not by being salty, but point out ways that the players who are less beneficial to your team can improve, and help them. Being an elitist gets you nowhere.
Edit: if anyone else has things to share to help out, please be my guest in adding in to this. Let's help our guardians achieve victory.
Edit: wow I can't believe there's so much action on this post, thank you guardians. Good to see positive comments mostly too.

Got to the final stage TWICE yesterday after all the platforms and he moves to the middle kinda like oryx at the end for the final showdown and we couldn't get him down... Twice this -blam!-ing happense man -blam!-!
-
What annoys me more is when we are in dps phase and I see a cannon on the floor. Some people would rather use Gjallarhorn.
-
Almost majority of the people die in siva swarm from the boss. Position yourself to get cover from the boss when teleports . Tell which side he is so your guardian can take cover

Great post! Thanks

Need 1 for siege engine need a warlock or titan must be over 365+
-
Sad part is, because I haven't done the raid yet and I don't currently have a mic, I'm getting a mic in 2-3 days, I got booted from 10 Fireteams on recruitment. I'm considered a noob (I'm 366 lol) and I guess I'm stuck at 366 cause I can't raid and my RNG sucks rn. Here is my full predicament, I'd appreciate the help:https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/213785846/0/0

Staying alive is easy, if you die you are a scrub, I'm sorry to say it but it's true. Use the cover provided, hang back in the middle area mostly, kill shanks, 1 hit captain with sword. After than nothing can really hurt you.
-
If aksis can't see you, he can't hit you with swarms. I had people on left that couldn't stay alive past the first dps phase.
-
*warlock

Use a sniper on shanks lol...u need all the sniper ammo for boss...it's insane how important it is to have sniper ammo for boss only
-
Thanks
-
No back up plans Thagomizers/skullfort Shotgun Max strength
-
I know the sword does massive dps. But I see no reason not to use ghorn. The best way to take out the captains is with Celestial nighthawk. Hands down. One shots then.
-
I disagree with killing the captain as soon as u are empowered. Clear all the shanks first or at least down to one or two. Have one person finish those last shanks and the other kill the captain with solar sword. 2 swipes and he is down. The person who has sword grabs canon the other has gally. This makes it so everyone is damaging at max level. Tip, you can sword the boss to when you run out of sniper. Everyone should be using sniper as well. Do it this way and you can usually drop him by your 3rd platform with under 370 light.

Edited by seeweedbuscut: 9/27/2016 9:29:30 AMCould I complete the raid at around 355 with Gjally, Sleeper and all the other recommended DPS weapons? I'm away from tomorrow (Wednesday in my time zone) until friday, and i can't go back on to my Xbox for 5+ weeks after this Sunday, so i really want to do it this Sunday, before it becomes unavailable, but hitting 360+ by then is unlikely.

Is my hunter good for the raid???
-
2 man????? lol that's ridiculous
-
I just hate the fact that people start leaving even when we get the hang of it and just need to keep trying. But nope.
-
If you have 3 dedicated bomb throwers your raid team is trash
-
Or just don't try to be a hero and kill everything and die People think it's better to die then to run and hide...
-
Keep moving Use pillars for cover Don't rush the captain blindly Easy For God's sake stop leaving the canons and not using them to dps the boss. Make sure the canons hit their second stage before releasing trigger
-
Perfect Loadout for final boss: Opinion Based If you're 370+ a handcannon within the Eyasluna, Imago Loop, etc. Category with explosive rounds one shots the shanks. Sniper for boss dps (Remember to have increased sniper ammo on your armor.) Exotic Sword to easily take out Captains. If you have a cannon ALWAYS use it for dps, shoot and hold the trigger until its silent (faster and does the same damage as holding it so the whole time.) Enjoy the raid guys!
-
If you have problems staying alive, red death is for you
-
Or one person shoots one gally and the other person finishes the captain off with an exotic sword. Makes things faster
-
Easy. Don't suck.
