Strikes Aren't Fun Anymore

Players are leaving or going AFK in strikes more than I've ever seen before. Something needs to be done. Here are the problems with strikes as I see them: 1) Rotation - I personally get sick of seeing the same 2 or 3 strikes over and over. Whatever happened to Phogoth? There's no reason to exclude any strike from vanguard or heroic playlists. Bring back some variety. 2) Exotic Drops - everyone has figured out by now which strikes have no chance to drop exotics, and those are the strikes that people leave the most. Fix those strikes to have a chance at exotics. 3) The Taken. Maybe this will get better with time, but the Taken also seem to correlate with dropouts. Reduce Taken strikes. Fixing 1 might fix this problem. Seriously, Bungie. Do something about strikes.

  • Gotta say I really hate the taken strikes. I was hoping they'd fall away with the release of RoI but nope. Gotta fight hordes of lag switching warbling screech monsters. So much fun...

  • I think another problem is the elemental burns every week, it makes certain strikes incredibly frustrating for random groups and people leave or you quit, breaking your vanguard streak. Strikes are supposed to be casual fun that you try to blast through as fast as you can. I think they should remove the elemental burns but keep the primary, special, heavy burns so it only affects our guardians and not the enemies.

    • What's worse is we got a light cap of 400(385 for now) but legendary only go to 365. It's pointless to even run them anymore. Sure there's those keys that can drop higher light but with a drop rate of 1/20 it's horrible grind to say the least

      • I don't mind doing them. What is a kick in the balls is that 3 out of 5 is dust palace or Omnigul! Cmon Bungie there are more strikes than those 2. Get all of them in rotation!!!

        • Agreed, these changes would make strikes more fun. Hell I don't think I've ever gotten any of the new/reimagined strikes when running the strike playlist . A little more variety would be great. Also, why the hell are drops from strike playlist dropping at 240 light?! That is not a typo. Nearly every bit of loot I get is well below the light level of a decrypted blue engram. What is the logic behind that, Bungie? <_<

        • I hadn't run any strikes since May. I have been running to level up the past couple days. It is basically a forced activity to increase light and is mind numbingly boring.

          • What can we do about scrubs? I love the challenge pve offers. And I almost never worry about the reward because I don't believe in RNG-sus And if you hate AFKs don't worry, once everyone's light levels have caught up we'll see less of them. They simply want the loot without the boot. I personally enjoyed the strikes this last week because it was pretty reminiscent of year 1 nightfalls. I love the challenge. Oh god. The horror. The MIGHT.

          • I stopped farming strikes after year 1, not really worth it unless you are trying to level your character. Players only seem to drop out on heroic for me and that depends on the burn. No one want to fight Hive when arc burn is active, the rewards simply are not worth the effort, especially with the low key drop rate. So Omnigul and Warmind have high drop out rates. So too does the Bond Brothers for some reason. Regular strikes are for farming exotics unless you have a key. So if you don't have 3oC or a key you are just farming rep and for a lot of players I guess that means that you don't need to participate. The addition of keys to extend the grind was a horrible decision. Most players would have stuck it out regardless of difficulty if you had a chance at a legendary item, without a key you have no chance. Now we are seeing the results of yet another poor decision by Bungie to alter the loot system.

            • Getting Omnigol twice in a row pretty much guarantees that I'll bail out when the third strike is Omnigul. Awful rotation. Hate leaving a Guardian, but now that we have to depend on RNG to get a key that gets us a reward determined by RNG, it's pretty much not worth doing strikes that have zero chance at exotics...

              • I'm tired of teamates not using MODIFIERS to their ADVANTAGE. Also not REALISING there are many different POWERFULL builds with EACH SUBCLASS. A common occurrence at the end of each strike: Teamate 1 kills: 67 Teamate 2 kills: 54 Me kills: 135. All variable of course, but as you can see... well it speaks for itself.

                  • To be fair, Bungie did say that the strike rotation would heavily favour the new strikes for the first few weeks.

                    • It's simple, really. If you go into the menu and go to orbit from a strike, you aren't allowed to join a strike until the strike you left is over. If you DC, fine. As long as you didnt just go to orbit.

                      • I'm so tired of seeing the taken in every single strike I go into. I drop out depending on the strike if it's take... But last night, the same blighted chalice strike kept popping up, over and over and over. It's almost as if the new strikes aren't even in rotation in the siva strike playlists.

                      • Does it suck that people leave? yes, it's not the best. Still, you should be able to solo most strikes, especially this week with the arc burn. You'll usually have a full team by the boss, so even tough strikes should be doable. Carry that weight.

                            • Just going to say this, they really need to fix the Malok strike at the beginning because it's really easy to troll players at the beginning by just campaign the Husks and sitting there for a good 5 mins until a new one spawns

                            • For he first time today I almost gave up on Omnigul. I knew I'd get no exotic and that's all we do it for. So why bother. Already got God grasp and I don't even use it. I don't play PVP at all.

                            • Strikes are fine. reason people are leaving is because they find certain strikes too hard. Either it's their light level that makes it take a while for them to finish a strike or it's because the Arc burn is too much in some strikes. When doing strikes with my friends, we back out of Omnigul and SABER due to the Arc burn making it take ages to do. We'd rather get another strike going than waste time.
