Scout Rifle Love
So, in year one, I tried all the types of weapons, and I dabbled in Thorn and Red Death a lot. But, when I got a Gheleon's demise with outlaw and firefly, I immediately fell in love with the thing. It was the best thing since sliced bread. Fast forward 2 years, and i decide to use the skeleton key you get for the campaign on the Mars strike and got the Tread Upon Stars with pretty bad roles. But it struck a thought; what is the communities "true-blooded" scout rifle? I know that people can just look up "top 10 best scout rifles" but I want to see what the community believes to be true.

My keystone 01 from dead orbit with a killer perk roll including full auto, Perfect Balance and Firefly tops the cake for me. High impact, great range, good balance, and firefly...love it...and I've been playing since the very beginning.

Vision of Confluence will always be the gold standard, I think. But there've been a lot of great scouts over the years. Cryptic Dragon, Badger CCL, Fang of Ir Yut, The Scholar, etc.

[b]Varik's [armory]Hand of Judgement[/armory][/b]: Hits like a Hand cannon but with huge aim assist. Explosive rounds is the perk to look for. It's even easier to get now that Varik's rank ups have class items eliminated from the main pool. #2. [b][armory]SUROS DIS-47[/armory][/b]: Fast firing, can be non-crit spammed in close range, but has the range and impact to snipe at range. Look for Full auto and fitted stock. #3. [b]Vanguard's [armory]Angel's Advocate[/armory][/b]: The only legendary in the archetype of the dreaded MIDA Multi-tool. Solid gun, and vendor roll is good. #4. [b]DO's [armory]Keystone 01[/armory][/b]: Hits like a truck, but it's base stats are worse than #1, the HoJ. It's perks save it. Multiple combinations of top tier perks can be created, E.G: Outlaw & Firefly. #5. [b]OMOLON"S [armory]Cocytus SR4[/armory][/b]: Another High impact scout rifle. It doesn't have as many perks available as other scout rifles, as it's a faction weapon. However, a god roll is almost guaranteed if you have patience, hold on to it's armsday order, and 1-3 new rolls will be available the next week. Look for the same roll as the OG Hung Jury roll, next on the list. #6. [b]DO's (TTK) OG [armory]Hung Jury[/armory][/b]: A solid scout rifle, but the vendor roll at TTK's start was praised as TTK's best scout rifle. If you didn't get it, There's a poor man's arms day order version of it, that can have the same roll if you're lucky. #7. [b]WoTM [armory]Chaos Dogma[/armory][/b]: Ridiculous High impact DPS primary, the best in fact. Has a perk called "Triple Double" that returns 2 bullets every 3 precision shots. It can easily get off 30+ shots on a boss, if they're all precision. #8. [b]Vanguard's (Brought Forward) [armory]Badger CCL[/armory][/b]: Another high impact one. Nothing too special about this, but it's basically a primary sniper. Most Previously mentioned High impact scouts can do better. #9. [b]Trails of Osiris (TTK) [armory]The Inward lamp[/armory][/b]: Just an extremely fast scout in general. Quick shooting, quick RoF, and just generally agile. #10. [b]Vanguard's (TTK) [armory]Not like the Others[/armory][/b]: Just a solid scout. Huge Aim Assist, mid-low impact and decent RoF. It's very reliable, got me through a time in destiny where i was lacking a decent scout. #1-#8ish are absolute beasts. #8ish to #10 are just a few i thought of off the top of my head. Haven't had the chance to Experience #4, #7 and #9. Just seen gameplay and checked stats. -TTK weapons labeled, only way to get them now is Engrams (except for Trails (Unobtainable) and possibly Faction weapons)

Needs to be nerfed. They hit too hard. Too OP for me.

I just picked up a sweet Badger with Triple Tap, Perfect Balance and Hidden Hand. Almost a "god roll", but I'll definitely be using it, because I'm honestly tired of using Hung Jury. It's always nice to switch it up every once in a while.

I've tried them all not like the others,dis 47,hung jury,tread upon stars etc.. But the winner is colovance duty,especially if you can headshot. Even centurions are one headshot. Hung jury seems to be suffering in this dlc especially the raid.

Cryptic dragon is a amazing scout rifle for me it's one of those 4-shot head shot scouts and it has a good magazine size of 19 and the stability is pretty good plus it's one of those old year one type of scout which is my favorite

Colovance's Duty. Red dot OAS, crowd control, third eye, rifled barrel/ explosive rounds. That thing is a beast. Even before the sniper nerf I could regularly counter snipe with it on long range maps like widow's court.

My The Wounded scout rifle has Explosive rounds, full auto, outlaw, hammer forged ,and fire fly It literally makes me horny since I can run either full auto, outlaw and fire fly or Explosive rounds, outlaw, and firely

Edited by Soja: 9/28/2016 1:48:34 PMScouts are my jam. I have a pretty formidable Last Extremity that has taken me from the second week of TTK through to today. It's smooth in the hand and hits like a mass driver, and it has Firefly and Triple Tap to boot. Didn't need no Hung Jury after that. Just wish it had Rifled Barrel instead of Smallbore. I also have a couple of sweet Cocytus scout rifles, which are basically unbranded LEs. Before that, the Badger CCL was my go-to. Probably not surprising that I wound up loving the LE since they're almost statistically identical. I got a Saterienne Rapier from the first Crucible rep box after the April update that reduxed several year one weapons. The roll is pretty disgusting (Crowd Control, Hidden Hand) but so are the sights (ORES *vomit*). Saterienne had a reputation for being highly desirable in its day and I would say it's not a bad choice at all, although the mag is a little shallow for the medium impact it has. I basically look for range and high impact in my scouts. Soon after that I'm laughing through everything. A moment to remember those who are no longer with us. Bow your heads for Vision of Confluence.

1 ReplyGreat to see some love for Treads Upon Stars which remains my fave Scout Rifle! I upgraded the light level on mine and I run with Life Support, Explosive Rounds and Firefly 😊 I'm aware that Explosive Rounds can result in Firefly not proccing occasionally but that only happens 1 in 3 or 4 shots and Explosive Rounds is too useful for its stagger type effect not to run it (at least for me).

8 Repliesif you love scouts i definitely recommend the new raid one, Chaos Dogma. 16 mag with triple tap and triple double (makes it so 2 bullets return instead of 1) Have to be careful with your shots but its amazing when you get use to it

I like my MIDA (since Y1 exotic drop) and VOC. Tlaloc for Y2 or hung jury. Also like NL SHADOW 701 ( crucible drop). Have one with 25 mag (casket mag). If it had firefly...... 😄. Love high ROF scouts best

2 RepliesWhen TDB dropped, I got a Badger CCL with my favorite sight (EOS) and Firefly. I fell in love with it. Ever since they brought back Y1 weapons with the Vanguard packages, I keep holding out for that perfectly rolled CCL. I'm really curious about the Keystone though (current DO Scout). I've heard great things about it, and the stock vendor roll is [b]almost[/b] as good as it gets. Anyone remember the Fang of Ir Yut? Thing was amazing during Arc Burn NF's.

I like the Tread Upon Stars, reminde me the Another NitC from C.E. and it feels like a Vision of Confluance from VoG. Right now, I'm using a lot my Jade Rabbit, and have no plan to stop!

Original vendor Hung Jury is hard to argue with, though I only use it in PvE. My favorite PvP scout rifle is one of the several Colovance's Duties I picked up during the last Iron Banner. It has Zen Moment, Hidden Hand, and Braced Frame, and I love it for it's ability to out-duel snipers and just do insane amounts of damage with a single round. Well, [i]one[/i] sniper. If you see two glints, you're dead meat no matter what.

I have 'Not like the others' equipped on my Warlock that I'm liking quite a bit. It has reactive reload, crowd control and braced frame. Great PvP roll.

I have two Not Like the Others, one with Outlaw/Crowd Control/Hand-laid Stock, and another with Crowd Control/Firefly/Braced Frame and both are beasts in PvE. I also just got a Last extremity with Life Support/Zen Moment/Extended Mag that's been putting in work in the raid.
