What's the point in playing a Hunter?

When Titans have Dunemarchers to make them move just as quickly, move faster than Radiant Dance Machines when aiming down sights, and turn better, and Warlocks have Ophidian Aspect to make them considerably better in terms of gunplay, melee battles, and grenade throwing without the need to land precision kills? Edit 1- How did people get that I'm asking for nerfs out of this?

  • Damn dude....these people...ugh. So, I play all 3 and all 3 subclasses, well. Since you ask, and don't specify PvE vs PvP, I'll have to cover both! PvP - The point? Well I play with my hunter for the experience. That may sound odd, but it's a different playstyle entirely from say my Voidwalker or Sunsinger. -[b]Gunslinger[/b], Chain of Woe and Gunslinger's Trance can make certain rolls on Weapons "God Rolls" which can be really fun. For example, I have a handcannon with Luck in the Chamber, Braced Frame for reduced bullets and another damage stat like Reactive-Reload or Surrounded. The gun is a beast as it can one shot, but only for my gunslinger and my Bubble Titan (weapons of light). Tripmines are still very good, especailly with the Ahmkara's (sp?) Spine Gauntlets. And the super, will kill people. The Scarab gauntlets are perhaps my very favorite, and turn that Gunslinger into an absolute nightmare. When I'm feeling like, being a royal ass in the crucible, MIDA and Gunslinger all day long. Smooth as butter. - [b]Bladedancer[/b], Quickdraw is often overlooked but is extremely powerful and versatile. Having quickdraw as a class perk means your guns don't need to have it. Take a gun like The First Curse, I can forgo selecting Quickdraw and select Agility+2. Quickdraw means that I can shoot someone with a sidearm, and swap to The First Curse and finish em off in a blink or vice-versa. Being able to change weapons, in an instant opens up many playstyle options. Like The Last Word and a Sniper combo. And let's not forget invisibility. Being able to vanish, while reloading is very helpful. Running and gunning with a shotty, while invisible is helpful. Using invisibility to setup a snipe is helpful. Hungering blade, is fantastic as it returns health. And the super...makes other players scurry away like scared little babies, but running doesn't matter because you move much faster than even a skating titan! Oh, and an invisible super in the crucible is more fun than invisible shotgun running. The Grenades aren't too shabby either. The skip grenade is extremely deadly, as you only need to hit someone with a sidearm or a few bullets from an auto rifle while they try to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge the scatternade. And they will, the moment you toss it near their feet. And picking the scarab gauntlets means you can go invis with escape artist AND hungering blade! That's like tasty pudding. -[b]Shadowdancer[/b], you get an awesome dog! That's why I play with my hunter vs my titan. Sometimes tho, I'm just in the mood to run around with a shotgun and shield so I rock my titan, panic smashing anything that survives my shotty/punch combo. Other times I wanna pretend to be lord palpatine and fly around shocking the shit out of everyone, twice. In PvE...well, ORBS for the team so it's Shadowshot all day long. Hunters don't really have the awesome and devastating supers that the others (sunsingers aside) do. I mean, bladedancing isn't bad at all but you can't bladedance on a boss and expect that to go well...range is a problem. But compared to shadowshot it's a non issue. Admittedly, the grenades all serve the same exact purpose so that needs to be addressed but all in all even the Eagle Helm's boost to damage can't compare with the overall boost to damage provided by shadowshot. And 3 hunters in PvE is almost, better than 3 stormcallers cause you'll never run out of orbs. Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

    • You know, this works for more than just Hunters my friend. If you want exotics to belong to the classes that they should then the Ram needs to be a Titan exotic and not belong to Warlocks. Astrocyte Verse needs a buff for Warlocks. And then Dunemarchers go to the Hunters.

      • It is an attempt to even out the classes. Speed and weapon handling is no substitute for agility which the Hunter has an abundance of and why it is the most desired for PvP. The Warlock gloves bring Void Walker more inline with Bladedancers quick change for weapons. The Titan needed more speed for the new PvP game type to be able to collect orbs, I tried it without them and you cannot if a Hunter is near. These other 2 classes did not have any distinctive perks that actually gained them any advantage in a gunfight other than slightly more armor and recovery. In most cases the Hunters agility is all the class needs to get the upper hand on the other 2 classes. The Hunter awards the skilled player and is the best class in the game for that sole reason. I main a Titan for most things as it is more durable but I love playing the Hunter when agility matters.

        • I don't know, fun maybe? I mean this IS a game and games are supposed PLAYED for fun. If you like hunter then just play it and don't get caught up on what other classes have. I mean sure dunemarchers are nice to have, when I eventually get them, but I also want an exotic that helps my cool downs when I run so I have a hunter I'm leveling to get them. Every class gets stuff that other wants which is a good thing because it encourages diversity. If you think hunters are lackluster then play a different class for a bit or wait for new sweet exotics. Or set up matches with no exotics with friends. Hell in most sweats and stuff exotics are not allowed anyways. No class in Destiny is redundant and ALL have a place, even defender and I HATE their exotics.

                • Golden gun with deadeye and nighthawk do Insane boss damage, great for strike farming or raids. Nightstalker Is a really powerful support class, able to buff teammates or generate a lot or orbs. Blade dancer can clear mobs and is excellent for pvp. It also depends on your playstyle, but exotics don't make the class.

                          • I never comment on any forums but seriously? You're gonna bash dunemarchers? And the warlock boots that let you move quicker whilst crouching? Hunters are great at mobility. Shade step jump is an excellent dodge, blink is amazing and triple jump with bones is pretty dang good. Or directional jump with bones. Either way, hunters have so many ways to get out of any situation. Someone's coming from the corner, throw a smoke, and confuse their radar. Or blink out. Or use bones with directional control to lengthen the gap between you and them. Bottom line: hunters have amazing mobility. Before rise of iron, for maybe a week or two, I played as the blade dance and it was soooooo much fun. Pair that with the frost boots or the shinbus vow? Trust me, try and get the frost boots and it'll change the way you see dunemarchers and the warlock boots.

                              • I -blam!-ing hate the dunemarchers, and I don't even have RoI. I know from the armory that they literally have enough perks for 3 exotics, but hunters get boots that have one of these. It's honestly pretty shit that hunter exotics are so far past the bottom of the barrel that they're floating in liquid metal

                                • Go play Halo. Seriously. Is it ***really*** that hard to understand that things can be balanced without being EXACTLY the same? Hunters are the games AGILITY fighters. That doesn't mean that they are always the fastest....or that no one else should get boosts to their speed or weapon handling as EXOTICS to help them tweak their character builds. I swear you're like the person I used to work for who got out a RULER to measure the blueprints of a proposed renovation to make sure she wasn't being given the smallest office.

                                    • You are absolutely correect, anyone can play as a gunslinger since the abilities can be found on armor and weapons Warlocks can now entirely outclass bladedancer, with a better roaming super, same calibre grenades, better melee, and gauntlets to make them good in gunplay too The only unique hunter class is nightstalker now, the class has no survivability, but it does have good debuffs
