It's possible it's not entirely their fault. Some ISPs have, in the past, cached data when it was being hit hard to reduce the strain of their network. A wide release of a game sounds like that kind of scenario. If the cached data was bad, then lots of people would be hitting said poorly-cached data, and poof. Sucks. Some ISPs also share backbones and such... which could explain why some people outside of MediaCom are also having the issue. I'm not saying that Bungie is definitely in the clear... just that if Mediacom is doing something stupid then Bungie couldn't really do much about it other than yell "WTF?!" at them.
