Throwing Knives...

So... can somebody explain to me why they would nerf throwing knives? They were often used to show off or as a novelty in crucible. Never--not once since the alpha--have I ever heard anyone complain about throwing knives. I wouldn't get mad if I got unicorned; I'd give the person props. The throwing knife got nerfed for some reason, and I want to know why.

    • Because it's cheesy and doesn't take much skill (I'm a hunter main).

      • Considering the other classes melees do impressive damage (feels like one hit kills with shoulder charge to boot) throwing knife has become incredibly useless. I continue to get infuriated when an opponent is sprinting at me and I get precision hit with my knife and they run straight through it without a stagger and kill me. Even worse, I still haven't figured the distance I need to throw a knife versus a stab in PVP. I often whiff with a stab only to get shot down when I really wanted to throw my knife. Furthermore, the knife is a complete joke in PVE for any enemy not a thrall. I seriously don't get bungies reasoning behind its nerf.

      • Was one of the dumbest nerfs since launch, and that's saying something. It was nerfed because the million to once chance you had incendiary blade, and got a headshot on a guardian who chose to run around with minimum armor (naked) it would kill them in one shot. Bungie felt that the natural consequences of being naked in favor of high recovery and agility was unfair to those choosing to take off their armor.

        • My name is deej, today i will be telling you how to buff throwing knives in PVP SCRBS. LETS GET ROOOOOIGHT INTO THIS SHIAT Step one: Throwing knives now always hit the head due to our new feature witch allows all knives to teleport to somones head no matger what!! This means you may throw it off the map and lag will take care of the rest. Enjoy your buff hunters! Deej out. Also I nerfed fusion rifles again kids

          • Yeah, throwing knife nerf was pretty dumb. And I know bungie because of incendiary blade, but they should have made the burn last one tick less. Sorry to all you gunslingers :(

          • that's complete bullshit. and they nerfed the tripmine grenades. it's like they want the hunter to fail while the lighting grenades and everything else is super useful

            • Agreed!! With tripmines if they were going to nerf the damage they could have atleast made the detonation faster so people couldn't just run through them... that sorta defeats the purpose!

            • As a hunter main who uses mostly gunslinger in PVP, I think the net for DAMAGE was stupid. Instead I think they should nerf aim assist for it, but make it stagger enemies, because I don't understand how it possible that somebody tries to shotgun rush me and I hit the in the head with a throwing knife, and they are still running at full speed and kill me.

              • Had the small potential of "one hit kills". However that pretty much nevet happened. To have that happen in pvp you had to have all of the following thigs happen. Throwing knife headshot + guardian with low armour + khepris sting invisble burn melee perk (which didn't work most of the time) + incendiary blade. With all those factors you could one shot a guardian. But lets be real here. That never happens on a daily basis. So they nerfed it, which is the dumbest thing because they could have used other avenues to make sure that didn't happen (like lowering the burn damage on the knives or khepris). But bungie logic right?

              • It was the easiest way to drop the average kd. Had nothing to do with the knives
