Social spaces are near impossible to play right now.

My wife and I are at the point where the game is basically unplayable. I'm not trying to be dramatic, either. Odd enough, the problem only really shows itself in the in-game social spaces. Regular missions seems to be fine, I have no tried PvP. So anyway, in the Social spaces of the game, it seems to take 15-30 seconds to interact with any items or quests in the game. Any time an item or quest is interacted with we the standard "Contacting Destiny Servers" message. See the attached video for an example. This makes the Postmaster, Vault, and Engram Decoders near impossible to deal with. If it was just a time thing, I'd try to just push through it, but for some reason we seem to be on a countdown as well. Everytime we join a Social space, we have about 2-3 minutes before we get a black screen. When we get this black screen, about 50% of the time it loads us back into the social space after a solid minute, 25% of the time it kicks us to orbit, the other 25% of the time it fully kicks us to the title screen. We've seen Baboon, Beaver, and Weasel all pop up when this happens. One of the oddest parts about it, is that we also get kicked out of our PSN party sporadically when this happens. Naturally, this makes me think it's a problem with our ISP or equipment, but we play several games together (we each have our own PS4) and we have no issues playing other games. We've noticed that staying out of the PSN party seems to increase the time we can spend in a social space from 2-3 minutes to 5-6 minutes. Both our PS4s have a NAT type of 2. I've done the standard reset of network equipment. I have a fiber connection. We never had any problems before, but we stopped playing about June, and only started back up again this last Saturday. The problems were there, then, before Rise of Iron went live, but after the big Rise of Iron patch was installed. If I can provide any additional information, please let me know P.S. in the video, I hit the Continue button around the 5 second mark for the first time. Edit: Solved! Through a very kind stranger, we realized there was an irregular loop in my home network. By irregular, I mean that apparently COAX counts as a network connection to some DVR devices. So my main Modem was connected to a Cisco router upstairs via Cat5, and also to the Cisco router via coax Via DVR via Cat5. I hope that helps anyone else. I haven't been able to test my wife's PS4 yet, but mine seems to be without issue at this point.

  • Myself and my Wife are both having the same exact issue. This only started after the recent purchase of the Rise of Iron download. It ONLY affects social areas, but it is happening an average of 4 out of 5 times. We are not able to get to the social areas, and when we do, we more often then not get botted out for the error code: BEAVER We have completely reconfigured our modem set-up (Per bungies suggested Network fix) and nothing has helped AT ALL. PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT WE CAN DO TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED.

You and I are in the same boat. I was hoping it wasn't just me, but I'm getting the same results in both the Tower and Iron Temple. It also happened yesterday during a Crucible match as my ship was loading into the match. Oddly enough, it doesn't really happen while in the Reef social space - only in Tower and Iron Temple. Before the full deployment of RoI I was fine to be anywhere in-game. I have the same NAT Type as you. I run hardwired, but through a powerline adapter to my router as my modem is in the office at the back of the house, whereas my ps4 is in the front of the house. I'm on a 200Mb d/l with 20Mb u/l cable internet connection with unlimited data cap and everything was working perfectly well up until RoI went fully live this past Tuesday morning. Now, when it happens, I'll have to getup and go back to my office to unplug the powerline adapter and re-plug it in so that I don't get fully kicked out of the game world, but I do get kicked to orbit. I'm really freaking annoyed by this always going on, when it wasn't happening at all prior to RoI going fully live. Mind you, I'm not about to fork out a couple of hundred to run an ethernet connection straight from my router to my ps4 for an issue that for all I can gather, seems to be on Bungie's side and not on my end. Edit: Contacted my ISP and have them coming out today to run a cat5 cable from the location of my router to my living room so I can bypass the powerline adapter totally. And, they're only charging $25 for the service call. Will see if that does the trick. Glad OP got their issue resolved. Edit 2: ISP contractor came out and basically told me that my ISP doesn't install ethernet cabling, so I'm back to more of the same disconnect errors. Ugh...

      • Well... AT&T is not the best my friend. Maybe try calling your service provider, also if you're wired you shouldn't be getting any packet loss. Also make sure your Connection is very well secured, I've had some issues with neighbors tapping into my connection even with pass keys. It is most likely your service provider though, I would definetly call them and see if other people are having issues in your general area. Wish you luck Guardian.

      • So here is an update. I removed my Wife's PS4 from the network entirely. This had no impact on me. My Destiny experience was still having the above issues. My current network setup is I have a modem/router that is setup into a bridge mode into my Netgear Nighthawk x4 router. I check the Netgear and I noticed QoS is not enabled. I left it that way. I did see that UPnP was enabled. I tried turning it off and retesting. No change. I turned UPnP back on. I unplugged my PS4 from my Netgear, and straight into my Modem. No change. I have AT&T Uverse (Fiber) if that means anything. I uploaded a couple more videos to demonstrate my issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQas3SmoLyI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAvpXgALENI

      • Second small update. So I've learned the party chat ejection is a byproduct. While in a party with a friend, we noticed there was a substantial loss in audio quality from me when I joined a social space, and even further when I interacted with an NPC vendor. Basically, party chat recognizes this as packet loss, and decides that it's not worth it to keep me in the party, since my connection quality has become so poor. Best I can tell, I'm pretty much just having NAT issues, but I don't know why. I didn't have these issues before, and I'm not getting warnings in game that my NAT type is wrong, but something about the Peer to Peer data transfer is causing problems.

      • I hear you, Kor of Memory. My war party includes a player who suffers all the same afflictions you do (as well as not being able to join fireteam half the time in social spaces - even with player slots available). He plays Xbox One. I'm not sure what speeds you're running, but my friends ATT internet is quite slow, and strictly wifi, which exacerbates the testing issue.

        • I have a similar issue with my Destiny on Xbox One. I am getting constant Weasel Error Codes and get kicked from the game. I also then get disconnected from my Xbox Party.

        • It's because it's day one of the first new content release in a year. It's just crowded. After a few days the players will spread out more and it should be better.
