It's feels like this should've been the April update.... oh wait, it was supposed to be. I think that pretty much sums it up.

It was never supposed to be the April Update, where di you get that information.

Edited by Benzene21: 9/21/2016 7:58:17 PMDestiny 2 was most likely planned for fall 2016, which means RoI was planned for an April-May 2016 release.

The way that I see it, Rise wasn't planned for Destiny 1 at all. Bungie needed a story to fill the gap where Destiny 2 should have been, so they took a story that was planned later on down the road and put it in Destiny 1. I think this because of the timing of the last gen drop. Everyone seems to agree that dropping it in the middle of the game was a bit weird, and I believe it was because the Rise of Iron was planned to be a story either in Destiny 2 or later on. They brought it to fill the content gap, but had to use a pre-made story to prevent a fiasco like Vanilla. Last gen wasn't able to handle to story they had decided to take from a future installment, so it was dropped.

I really don't think that having no content release for a year was their original plan. Dropping last gen in the same game makes sense. It would give old gen players time to prepare for destiny 2, which means better sales.

The original timeline made by Bungie. They had no original intention to push D2 back. D2 was supposed to be here now. That would put this back in April. Let me ask, do you really think we should have gone an entire year on TTK dlc?
-
It was planned for Taken King to be around for a year, but Destiny 2 got pushed back. They weren't going to put in a new social space, raid, patrol area, and enemy type as an update, that just makes no sense. Rise of Iron differentiates so much from the Taken King, they wouldn't have decided to completely change storylines to an unrelated event as big as a DLC for an update.

Edited by WhiskeyHotel: 9/21/2016 8:51:33 PMBecause HoW was so much like TDB was so much like Vanilla? Your logic is crap. Just Google search for original Destiny timeline. And no, it would've still been PAID dlc... just should've dropped in April. I wasn't saying it should've been free.
-
Okay, that's where communication went awry. I thought you were talking about a free update like the April Update. I think that Rise of Iron is a little too big to have been set for 6 months, plus in the second livestream we saw that Rise of Iron was unfinished.

It wouldn't have been just an update. It would have been an expansion. What he is saying is that instead of getting a small update, the original plan was most likely an expansion in april or may, and that expansion was going to be RoI.
