So... about pikachu
So how come Pikachu (Ash's Pikachu) hasn't evolved yet? It has more than enough experience to evolve, but it hasn't. I know that many people would be upset it Pikachu evolved, but I mean statistically.

7 RepliesEdited by LahDsai: 9/8/2016 6:01:38 AMThey explained it in the episode where he fought Lt. Surge. He couldn't beat Lt. Surge's raichu and Lt. Surge suggested he evolve pikachu. Later they explained that pokémon change personalities when they evolve, essentially becoming a "new" pokémon (like how charmander was loyal but charmelion didn't give a rat's ass). Ash ultimately decided to not evolve pikachu so as to not change its personality (which would essentially be sacrificing his best friend). He ends up beating Lt. Surge anyway as Lt Surge was too eager to evolve his raichu and did so early on, meaning it didn't learn many of the speed and agility attacks it would have as a pikachu. Basically, pikachu pulls a Muhammad Ali and defeats a stronger opponent by a wearing him down.

Ash was going to evolve him with a Thunder Stone but Pikachu didn't want to evolve.

He didn't want to, he rejected the thunder stone which is what makes him evolve, not experience.
