Judging by the success of my last debate thread, which was the debate of raid matchmaking, I've decided to make another debate thread. This of course being should Destiny have skill based or connection based matchmaking in the crucible. Let the debate begin! Skill Based Matchmaking Skill based matchmaking keeps the crucible, a competitive multiplayer mode, competitive. No longer are games complete steam rolls. With this matchmaking system, every game is close. It makes it possible for bad players to still have fun, because they will play other bad players. Very good players will also be happy as it creates a more challenging atmosphere for them. Players can continue improve as they will gradually play better people as they improve their own skill. With connection based matchmaking, the crucible will no longer have those close games that are very fun and suspenseful, as both teams are an equal match. While some people may say that sometimes top players want to unwind and not have to go try hard for a couple games, I would disagree. The Crucible is suppose to be a competitive game mode. If you're not in the mood to play your best, you shouldn't be playing crucible, or at least be prepared to loose. Connection Based Matchmaking Destiny needs connection based matchmaking. Most players experience more matches filled with lag, than steam rolls. It can also be argued that players wont improve if they don't face people better than them. Getting steamrolled every once in a while is actually a good thing, as it shows how you can always improve. Getting to play a match and loose is better than getting halfway through a match and lagging out. With skill based matchmaking, you can't even improve your game, because the enemies you constantly get in lobby's where everyone is red bar. How do I improve my sniping skill when the enemies I face are teleporting around the map due to lag? While some players say the crucible is a competitive mode, and you should always we ready to play your best, I would disagree. That statement would hold mostly true if Destiny had ranked playlist, but it doesn't. So if I am a top player, and just want to have fun with a bad weapon for a bit, I shouldn't be forced to play the toughest competition. Comment your opinion down below! And let me know what we should debate next time!
