I can understand if "Rise of Iron" would work only in the playstation 4 and new Xbox, but there are artificial limitations imposed on the legacy console users that do not depend on our current hardware:
- The companion App and website no longer work for the user accounts with legacy consoles
- Players on legacy consoles will also no longer have the option to purchase individual exotic weapons and armor from Xur > http://www.polygon.com/2016/6/24/12027794/destiny-rise-of-iron-legacy-console-upgrades-ps3-xbox-360
To those of you on a first world country that don't see this as a problem: The cultural differences among the players of an MMOG are a big part of the fun, do consider that there are many of us in the rest of the world that can't afford, or even find, a new console.
The above limitations are by design and limit the enjoyment of the entire community: there are great players still on legacy consoles affected by these changes that won't be able to compete at the same level.

Add Trials and Iron Banner to your list. Trials and Banner worked on legacy so far. There is no technical reason to remove them. Yes it's Endgame content. But for legacy consoles, TTK will always be the Endgame. The Raid and the NF are part of the Endgame aswell, but they will (fortunately) stay. Why not ToO and IB?
