This would certainly promote diversity, not just in weapons, but also in subclasses. In that regard, I think it is a most excellent idea. However, as a STRONG proponent for elemental primaries, I don't think any "middle ground" needs to be reached on elemental primaries. You can have your cake and eat it too when it comes to weapon diversity and elemental primaries. You can simply make elemental damage cores that drop as rewards for endgame content. You put core into kinetic weapon, and magically, your gun shoots blue/orange/purple bullets. Fun ensues momentarily before Bungie decides to nerf it again. It puts weapon diversity and elemental damage in the control of the players rather than the game developers, who either choose what burns will apply, or who at least create the system for determining what burns will apply. After all, why should I have to play as a voidwalker on a void burn nightfall if I absolutely HATE my voidwalker? I could just as easily just switch to my Word of Crota and do just as well, while maintaining the core play of my chosen favorite subclass for that character.

  • You know I am of the same mind that you are, Lonestar. But Bungie is adamantly refusing to admit that this was a massive mistake on their part when they removed all Primary elemental damage, so I'm trying to incentivize it so that their precious ego's don't give them strokes and we can have our elemental damage back.

  • LOL we are of 1 mind on this issue for sure Nox! No worries man. I understand what you were doing. It would most certainly be a compromise solution, and if they absolutely refuse to bring back elemental primaries (and thereafter, eliminate the last good argument they have for not bringing Y1 gear forward) then I could live with this. However, I could care less about Bungie or Luke Smith's fragile ego. Nobody in the world is perfect and people occasionally make bad mistakes and bad decisions. Hell, I'll admit one right now - I bought TTK the day it was released! LOL What's important is that people admit their mistakes and do something about it. We can't even get to your middle ground solution if they won't admit their mistake.

  • No. People will continue to use one gun, but instead of one copy of that gun, they will have 3 copies of the same gun, but with 3 different elemntal damages. That is mean that there is still no diversity in the existing of infusable elemental item.

People will play this game how they want to play it, and I think Bungie should just let that happen rather than try to force people to play how THEY want us to play.

  • I'd be fine with cores, as long as the process is irreversible.

  • Elemental primaries should be earned through hard end game content.
