Who says where flying past the speed if light? Maybe where flying at the speed of light. It would explain the travel time/loading screen. It takes a few minutes for light to travel from one planet to another.

  • Not to be a dick but it takes seconds to go to the planets we go to. 1 and a half seconds to go to the moon, around 7 seconds to Venus, around 7 seconds to Mars and around 13 seconds to Saturn (not its rings). Not sure about the reef or Mercury.

  • Check those numbers champ. 12.5 minutes average (4 to 20 range) minutes for light to travel from Earth to mars.

  • I don't know what source you use but I know it takes 8 minutes for light from the sun to get to earth. That way I can see that traveling to another planets takes at least one minute. The moon is another story.
