* = Yes I know the moon and the Dreadnaught are not planets. Also, what's your least favorite planet*? My favorite is Venus. I find it absolutely beautiful. The lush and vibrant plant life combine very well with the ochres and reds and yellows to really give you a feeling of a beautiful place stuck in a state of perpetual decay. The acidic pools you zoom through (which actually splash the screen if your camera is positioned low enough), the giant structures off in the distance, and the meaningful and logical (for the most part) "turn back" condition of "going further you're walking through what is literally a pool of acid, not a good idea for your health" means the aesthetics of the location get full marks from me. It's also easy to get around, it has the easiest resource to find and collect as they're abundant on the main thoroughfares and glow, and it has very large areas devoted to its two enemy types (fallen or Vex) which makes getting kills of either type very easy. As such, from a gameplay standpoint, it's nearly perfect. It doesn't hurt that the fallen are great because they're insanely easy to rack up kills with, and the Vex are my favorite enemies lore wise, even if they can be a bit annoying to fight. For me, the only negative of the planet whatsoever is that getting Consumed Taken kills is an absolute pain since all of the Lieutenants are invisible and don't show up on radar. My least favorite is Mars, as the reds that serve as a beautiful complimentary note for Venus are the whole palette for Mars. In addition to the whole planet feeling samey, other than the structures (the gate is an awesome stucture to be fair), it also makes it really hard to find and collect the planet's resources as they blend in with the surroundings more than any other resource type. This is exacerbated by their tendencies for no apparent reason to stick resources in obscure or difficult to reach locations on Mars. It features the Vex, who I love but can be annoying to fight, and the Cabal, who I'm not personally a huge fan of and who are also really annoying to fight, especially when playing solo. The layout isn't the worst but it's not the best either and overall, the only redeeming feature I can find for it at all is that the Taken seem to be *constantly* corrupting the land, so if you need Taken kills you've come to the right place. tl;dr: Venus is my favorite, Mars is my least favorite.
