Complicated, but here goes: You need to complete 3 reciprocal runes to charge a stolen rune. You don't have to supply the reciprocal rune, just take part You need to complete 3 stolen runes to charge an antiquated rune. You don't have to supply the stolen rune, only take part Runes drop randomly from Eris rank up packages and court of oryx. You don't get automatic drops if you complete a lower level event and don't have a rune to charge Reciprocal runes drop from taken bosses on the planets (from Taken public events) and can be bought from Eris for black wax idols Stolen runes can be bought from Eris for black wax idols I think reciprocal and stolen runes are wasted if you fail the event (not sure) Antiquated runes are not wasted if you fail the event. You keep them until you succeed If you want a calcified fragment for a boss, combination of bosses (tier 2) you have to supply the rune that summons them (and succeed) Let me know if you have any specific questions I have not covered and I'll see what I can do

Hey bud, as a player who just downloaded both expansions a few weeks ago I went through the same thing. I believe with all runes if you fail the event you get the rune back. Not sure though, gotten tier 2 back but haven't failed tier 1 or 3 yet. With the calcified fragments it has to be you that used the rune. With charging runes, you have to first obtain the rune in order for it to be charged. 3 tier 1 to charge tier 2 rune and 3 tier 2 to charge the tier 3 runes.
