Hello fellow guardians,
After I had taken a break from fighting the darkness with my fireteam I picked up my weapons again and I stand firm again, keeping the tower safe. But as time passes, changes come. One of these changes I have found in the Crucible and I can no longer keep this to myself.
The Crucible has come a long way since we first entered. We've seen many changes, most of which benefiting our experience, but always with some form of backlash for us to argue about. This is one of those.
It has come to my attention that, even though the Crucible has become more versatile in the weapons that are being used, two primary classes seem to be abandoned more than often. These are of course the Auto Rifles and the Hand Cannons.
One of these might come as a surprise to you, but I will get to that.
Let's start with the Auto Rifles, which have been balanced very well over the years. It seems that it's time to kill is ever so slightly slower than that of the two dominating classes, the Pulse and Scout rifles.
The Hand Cannons on the other hand may have some guardians scratching their head. The class seems to pop up an awful lot in the Crucible. And even though this is true, it is a great deceptive image portrayed by one infamous weapon: The Last Word. It seems that this weapon alone makes up the Hand Cannon class, and as a fond Hand Cannon user this bothers me. A single weapon should not be dominating a class and thus I will propose some changes.
Let's start this of with the Auto Rifles, which major issue is found in it's time to kill. A simple damage buff should fix the job, or if we're giving this a look from a niche perspective, a range increase might be in place to make these weapons overall viable. It would make them not exceedingly powerful, but rather a viable choice for all occasions.
Next up are Hand Cannons, which got hit hard the last time. Here a simple buff in range OR accuracy would probably do the job just fine. I am personally in favour of the accuracy increase (after it's decrease from the latest Crucible patch), making it important for every shot to hit while still keeping the weapon in it's niche.
As for the Last Word, I really have a hard time thinking of a proper way to deal with this weapon. Things that come to mind are a damage reduction, a massive recoil penalty for fan firing or flat-out remove fan fire (although I'm not a big fan of this since fan fire is the weapons signature perk)
I hope this message is well received by all and will be seen as constructive criticism.
Thank you all for reading,
ZephyrsAvenger
