I've noticed most top tier players in this game (from destiny tracker leaderboards) are using grasps of Malok.
I got a decent one if you look at my warlock but I just don't get what makes it great. Ya it fires fast and you can get whatever rolls you want basically if you farm enough, but 90% of the time they're able to get away before you kill them because of the lowest impact of all pulse rifles
I do like how it handles and shoots but I've been getting insanely more assist than usual or not finishing the kill because, just that, finishing someone is pretty annoying with this gun.
Just curious about other people's input on this gun

Praedyths Timepiece is still the best

They shoot pellets yet can out gun anything Pulse with higher impact (i.e., shoots bullets). That's weapon balance at its finest! Like DoP outgunning Suros Regime! Perfect balance! You see, to achieve balance, bullet hoses have replaced all other weapons types. As long as your gun fires faster than mine, you will outgun me, although I shoot huge bullets and you shoot pellets. That's balance now! My high RoF handcannon can outgun your high impact handcannon. Like Judith D will always lose to TLW. Huge impact, low RoF falls prey to huge RoF. That's balance! Now you know why they are called The Sandbox Team: they have no idea about guns! Bigger bullets kill really fast, even when they hit non-vital areas. It's energy transfer. 50 cal will kill your Lexus. AK47 will bounce off the engine block! In Destiny, a BB gun will kill Oryx, a 50 cal will piss him off. Perfect balance!

I think it's popular because the nirwens archetype, the hacksaw archetype, and grasp all take 3 bursts to kill, so which one do you think people will use?
-
Because most other primary weapons keep getting the crap nerfed out of them. That's why. Glad I could answer your question.
-
It's because pulse rifles are -blam!-ing liars and after the two-burst nirwens fiasco last fall, they all do the same damage now. People use the fast ones (Grasp of Malok, Hawksaw) because the burst finishes its cycle faster, and because there is no wait time in between bursts like there is with the slower ones (Lyudmila, Nirwen's Mercy).
-
That gun is trash. I -blam!- those that with my spare change with cb. Two bursting for days on those low armoured huntards
-
I think it just comes down to preference. I'd much rather use hawksaw.
-
You're joking right? It's got an astonishingly quick TTK.

Edited by Grimace221: 8/26/2016 1:02:02 PMIt os a beast with the right rolls.
-
Edited by usafsatwide: 8/26/2016 12:49:14 PMI'm sure there are some that use it with a modded controller for full auto grasp...much like [armory]Oversoul Edict[/armory]

Becaauuuuse bandwagon

I loved Praedyth's Timepiece, and the Grasp is the new version of it. Fires as fast as you can pull the trigger. For me it's the best at getting that headshot cause it pulls straight up on recoil. If you farm for one with headseeker then you have the gem. Mine has glass half full too but with outlaw. I bounce between my grasp and my DoP for most things if anything for variety or for the map.

There was a time when o ly 2-3 guns reigned supreme. Those were dark days. The fact that tlw,hawksaw,pdx45, grasp, 1kys, uni remote, ldr, longbow, and so.e others are a little op just shows at least there is some diversity. Trials in year 1 was 100% all thorn and a sniper with final round. Every match. At least you see some different stuff now.
-
For every Grasp I see, I see ten Mida/TLW/Hawksaw/Eyasluna users. The only thing that makes GoM stand out is that it's the only one of its archetype right now. It's no more OP than Praedyth's Timepiece, Oversoul Edict, Skorri's Revenge, or the old vendor roll Time on Target. Honestly, I think you get just as much mileage out of a well-rolled Hawksaw or PDX-45. My crucible experience lately has been a plague of legendary hand cannons. All I see nowadays is Eyasluna, Lord High Fixer, Devil You Know, and Finnala's Peril.

I've got two or three with so-so to lousy rolls, so never use them.

Edited by Chlorian: 8/26/2016 12:00:56 AMI don't think I've ever complained about a specific weapon in this game but if I were to I'd point in the directions of god roll Lunas and GoM's. When everything els is equal you smiply wont win a fight against those two weapons. Now, that in itself isnt that big of a deal because the rest of the weapons are far from balanced in relation to eachother either. The issue is the God roll GoM's and Lunas are extremely hard to obtain so if you have one you´re at an instant advantage - because you'll most likely be the only one.

I have been playing with a hopscotch pilgrim on my Alt GT Woundedwarrior01 I got it from prison of elders
-
because its the fastest time to kill pulse rifle in the game?...
-
It needs a range nerf imo.
-
I love it, the gun shreds
-
There's a large number of players who also use modded controllers that can both provide full auto (the perks version of it) to any weapon as well control recoil by inputing a downward thumbstick movement when the trigger is pulled or held.
-
bc it works well with modded controllers
-
TTK. That's why. Nerfs to the other primaries have made the majority meh. HROF low impact pulse rifles are well suited for the majority of the maps in rotation as well. There are a couple other options. TLW/Eyasluna, Mida/Tlaloc. All ARs are once again garbage for the most part.
-
Cuz the effective range is better than what it probably should be.
-
Because it's effective
-
.8 second kill time.
