Very good summary. Couple of minor points that might be off but overall very accurate.
I think your statement that early guardians did the dirty work for the factions marginalizes them. Some were out in the wilds helping people find the last city, protecting them.
Also, the FWC was not one of the early factions. FWC was voted in to join the consensus after the concordant was ousted.
Lastly, not saying it is wrong because I don't know, but I never got the impression that the battle of Mare Imbrium occurred before twilight gap. I swore twilight was first.
But very informative post

The FWC is actually one of if not the oldest living faction, it just didn't become a Tower faction until fairly recently.
-
They date back to Maya and the device research in the golden age. But they were not an officially recognized faction of the consensus until recently. And there were many early factions that were recognized that no longer exist
-
Their Consesus recognition has no relevance to their age. They were founded upon the bones of the Ishtar Collective and have supposedly exited since possible as far back as the late Golden Age. You in your initial comment makes it sound as though they're one of the newest factions, when in reality it's only their position as a Tower Faction that is recent.

Firstly, Bungie directly stated that the iron Banner was the first time the Risen would try and use their powers for good. Guardians only tried using their powers for good after the Banner formed. The first people to help refugees were the Takanome Rangers, simple humans. 2. Twilight Gap is often cited as the last large Battle of The City.

Edited by A Rising Wind: 8/23/2016 12:59:06 PMBut at the same time, Rezyl was out in the wild saving villages from attack. Maybe he was the only one doing good before the Iron Lords. And I know twilight gap was the last battle for the city, I just don't know if there is anything saying whether it happened before or after the attack on the moon
-
Rezyl's cars only mentions that he was a champion of the Wars against the Fallen during and after the Faction Wars. This was around the time the Lords came to be. Also the Battle of the Moon happened almost directly after the Burning Lake. Which was a battle of the City so it must have happened b4 Twilight Gap

Edited by Haffoc: 8/23/2016 3:15:47 PMProblem is though, Zavala was already advising the Consensus before the battle for the moon. If he wasn't vanguard commander then it's unlikely he would be advising them. Wei Ning also took part in the crucible, meaning it was in place before the moon battle. She died during the disaster. The crucible was born from twilight gap, so it must have happened first before the disaster.
"Heh. Nothing like that moment when you bring the Fist down. Sometimes, in the Crucible, I like to have my helmet cam running. That way, I can go back and see the whites of their eyes just before everything goes 'zap.' " —Wei Ning
Zavala was also advising the consensus when the concordat was removed from the Consensus. The crucible had already been formed before this also. If Twilight gap happened after the battle for the moon, then Zavala wouldn't be advising the consensus just before the disaster. Nor could Wei Ning take part in the crucible. She would already be dead.

Reading up on Shaxx and the Crucible, it wasn't born from Twilight Gap. It came before the battle, Shaxx only decided to stay in the City and train Guardians after Twilight Gap

Edited by Haffoc: 8/23/2016 4:12:29 PMThe order is still wrong, the concordat were kicked out after Twilight Gap and Zavala was made Vanguard Commander From City Age
"And so it is agreed. The Concordat shall no longer be recognized among the Consensus. We'll begin the dismantling right away. But what of those Guardians who have pledged to them? We can't afford any more banishments." "I'm sure Zavala can see to their realignment."
Zavala could only do that if he was Commander.
"We'll need to refocus our collective minds on combat. The Speaker's anxious to regain ground we lost after the Gap." "There is the War Cult."
Twilight Gap happened before FWC became part of the consensus.
"Unanimous? Good. We'll grant the Future War Cult access to the Tower and a seat among us. Ghost, please offer the Speaker this proposal." "Now onto the next order of business...Shaxx is here with another proposal for his Crucible."
Shaxx was already running the crucible at this point before FWC joined the consensus. From Raze-Lighter
“Next order of business... the growing City foundries—” [Bang] “What madness is this!” “Lord Shaxx! The Consensus did not—” “We barely eked out victory at Burning Lake. And now you think we're ready to attack the Moon?” “We’re preparing—” “Did you not read my report from Burning Lake? About the Hive's weapons? Those swords, they're like nothing we've ever—” “Lord Shaxx—” “Zavala! You can't think this is wise. We need to examine these swords, train against them—” “That is a matter for the Consensus to decide, old friend.”
This implies that Zavala was already Vanguard Commander and advising the consensus before the Great Disaster. Zavala wasn't made commander until after Twilight Gap.
