So I'm noticing just an obnoxious amount of people camping in Iron Banner. Entire teams of people sitting in spawn basically every match.
So I'm just wondering why do you camp? Not just in Banner or trials but in general.
Personally I can't do it, it just feels boring and scumy to me. Gives me that really douchey feeling I get when I use a shotgun. Makes me want to apologize to people for even doing it in Trials.(which I did last night)
But that's just me. Why do all you campers out there camp? KDR? Sniper/scout combo? Prefered play style? Can't fight up close? Or that win at any cost attitude?
-
Because i just bought a new Tent!
-
I don't camp but when possible I will wander around the same area waiting on rushers. Fits my scout rifle/fusion rifle play style. When I get aggressive I die... alot.
-
If the entire team is "camping" an area, its called map control.
-
Dude... its awesome when people camp.... youknow where they are. Roaming snipers are scary, especially if they have skill. Even a skilled sniper is easier to fight when hes camping.
-
Because my bubble is comfortable and Ice Breakers never runs out of shotgun shells.
-
The only thing these sweaty little kids care about is their kd. It comes before wins, girls, partying and hygiene. I look little into kd. Unless it glaringly obvious .5 or something.
-
My solar grenade keeps my warlock warm, so I don't move from the area. I gotta keep warm and toasty. My titan has to defend because it is his job as a defender. My hunter forgot his tent so he made use of the spot. In all seriousness though, it's because I am not good at rushing unless I have necrochasm.
-
Because bullets are scary

To control spawns. If you have a fireteam, one person should always be "anchor man". Example: shores of time you always have one person in the back between c and b (closer to c behind the rock). This ensures the enemy doesn't spawn behind you, and your team respawns on c side. If the enemy pushes your anchorman, 2 or more people should immediately move to support him, or you'll lose the spawn. The rest of the team needs to be smart enough not to push to far towards the enemy soawn, or spawns flip.
-
There is no gain in rushing blindly into an entire enemy team, the objective is Clash aka kill and don't get killed. On another note, there really is no such thing as camping if someone is continually going to the same spot and killing you, you are the problem. You can run across every single map in the game from one spawn to the other in less than 20 seconds. There is no camping in Destiny just people that whine about other people's play style and refuse to change their's.
-
Maybe what I play like during games isn't really camping but on certain maps I'll have a rough area that I'll stay within and let enemies flow towards me from their spawn and just kill them as I come. As for why I do it, it's just the playstyle that I enjoy using when possible. There's no real reason to it other than I enjoy setting up the gunfight to be in my advantage and forcing the other player to make the first move. Also helps that I don't have to deal with shotguners as much this way.
-
Because I love shmores. But seriously, this game encourages camping. Although I get too antsy to literally sit in one spot for long periods of time, my playstyle is still passive and defensive. Rushing is just to risky for me, I've tried it several times and it almost never works. I either get killed by a sniper as soon as I leave cover or I get blasted with a shotgun, even if I pull the trigger first because of this game's atrocious lag. I find it much more effective to get kills by using a fusion rifle to stop aggro-shotgun warriors. I try to get more kills with my primary but it just doesn't work out that way. Most of the time they just fall back into cover before I can finish them, and then I have to go back into cover because 99% of the time when they poke their head back out they're shining with the unmistakable red light of instant death. So I have to go do something else until they get tired of hardscoping.

I enjoy smores
-
I m on the toilet sry
-
I do on certain maps (frontier, momento, asylum) because I can not see my radar or opponents due to colorblindness. Some reason those maps don't work well for me
-
To get away from civilization, get some fresh air, be in the outdoors and relax
-
Because I want my enemies to die tired. Okay. Real world physics?... There's a word for people who run out of cover and charge into combat.... Though we use nicer words when breaking the news to their families. People camp behind cover because that is how you actually survive an active combat situation. Find a defensible location, keep your head down and keep your eyes and ears open till an attacker makes them selves an easy target, end the threat they pose. Is it fun? No. But it is realistic.
-
cause it works. and that's a scout/shotty combo for me thank you very much ....
-
The only time that I'm not actively rushing is when I'm giving the enemy time to establish a pattern or reveal their tactics. Once I know what's going on, get my gear right if necessary and push, push, push from spawn to spawn.
-
It's part of the challenge. I hate camping teams too but usually when my team finds a way to dig them out we'll win the match.
-
Edited by the spicy one: 8/22/2016 2:47:17 AMThat's how IB clash goes man. Without an actual objective, other than just kill, people know they can camp wherever because the other team HAS to go to them if they want to win.
-
The first IB in RoI will be supremacy, so there will be a lot less campers (hopefully)

I think one of the biggest reasons people camp is because of a passive playstyle. Some people aren't proficient at the run and gun style and so find a decent spot in a high traffic area and pick off unsuspecting players. Some people find it funny too. Personally, I'm like you, I can't really stick to one spot. I like to be moving, in the action, pushing with a shotgun (I'm really bad at sniping) and just being aggressive. I'd also assume some people do it to try and conserve k/d as well. Although I don't do it and it's frustrating to get camp killed a few times, it is a legitimate strategy and I respect people trying to win. Because deep down, everyone wants to try and win.

Cause I can't afford a hotel!

Camping and lag seem to go hand in hand. By the time I actually see the camper with a new tent and Mida it seems like I got one shot by it. Oh well

Edited by Iyrha: 8/21/2016 9:47:57 PMI don't. Camping is for 5 year-olds.
