That is one of the best monologues in any movie ever and it ironically comes from the most famous silent actor of all time. There is nothing to not love about it.

The original, I believe, didn't have a score in the background at all, though it does allow you to focus on Chaplin's raw emotion a bit more.

You're right... The music ads some emotion to the scene, but the original was incredibly impassioned and I think the music might take away some of that feeling.
