Thorn was made out of the rose hand cannon and jaren ward gave TLW to malphur directly.

Dredgen Yor gave TLW to Jaren Ward's ghost to give to him

The Rose was never a gun. The Thorn was always the Thorn. It was just called a different name. Dredgen Yor/The Noble Man simply realised what his gun actually was.

Dredgen Yor/The Noble Man simply realised what his gun actually was.
^ This is pretty much how I've thought of it. There's a key passage on the Thorn Grimoire 2 card... [u.2:4.5] I used to think of it as a rose... [u.2:4.6] Focusing on its bloom. [u.2:4.7] But the bloom is just a byproduct of its anger. The "bloom" Yor is focusing on is the growing bloodstain from the wound created by Thorn. This is why he thought of it as a rose, it was never another weapon. I always felt that this was pretty obvious.

Bloom? Hand Cannons? Hmm...
Bloom? Hand Cannons? Hmm...
😆 Maybe Yor knew more than he was letting on!

I think Rose was a gun. His Ghost pretty much told him that "your precious Rose will not always save you" prior to leaving him.
I think Rose was a gun. His Ghost pretty much told him that "your precious Rose will not always save you" prior to leaving him.
While I remember this I read it in a different way. It's always been my feeling that the ghost used the word rose because that's how Yor always thought of it, as a rose. And this is just me, but when I read the transcript of that conversation I can hear the snarl of derision as the ghost says "rose". The ghost was making a point that its powers would be missed, about Thorn's lack of ability to bring Yor back should he die. The ghost was disappointed, sad and wounded. Because the ghost didn't leave Yor so much as Yor threatened to destroy it if it didn't leave him be.

Well. There is some weird stuff with this. The grimore does say that he looked down and realized for the first time there were no pedals, only jagged thorns but at the same time it also says that the weapon was altered by hive magic... It may be an Akka situation where as soon as dredgon belive something to be true it was? I'm really not sure. One of the many contradictions in the lore.

My guess is that it was an ordinary gun, the hive found it, -blam!-ed with it, Xyor the unwed cursed it, THEN The Noble Man found it and started using it.
-
That's totally possible. I have no idea.

I don't know if the Rose is an actual gun. I'd think that TFC is the "Rose" that came before the Thorn. And this is not meant to offend you, but if you read the grimoire you'd know that Yor was talking to Jaren's Ghost, to give TLW to Shin.
