You are't wrong, but most view legacy as dead long ago. Imo legacy was lucky to get destiny at all.
It was a different hobby but I have gone from atari-nintendo-sns-n64-gamecube-wii-wiiu-ps4. Had to leave them all behind. Its just that time now for ps3/xbox360.
Could be a programming issue for legacy. They don't do it out of spite. My guess is they no longer want to maintain it.

I feel that is the least they could do. Really, what do they need to do other than wait until roi releases to schedule the update for the companion app. I understand that it's time for them to upgrade to current gen and I have no issue with that. I have no problem with not having access to iron banner or trials, or any feature released with roi without upgrading. But at the very least they could leave the companion app a viable choice for those who aren't, or cannot upgrade right now. Or perhaps leave it as it was, and release an updated companion app that works for current gen, and let the legacy users keep the old one. I simply don't understand why they couldn't at the very least wait until legacy consoles couldn't access new content to kill the app for us, now I have no transfer tool to transfer anything from my alternate characters, the main thing this app is useful for. I do like browsing and using the forums, but I hate that now I can't transfer the items, the exact reason I download this app in the first place.

What really does the companion app have to do with ROI? I mean seriously, ps3 servers are up for around another year and there's nothing impeding ps4 players with it. And progress is technically still being monitored, if you look up destiny tracker it still keeps track of statistics. So to me it's a bs way of further slighting legacy players, and force us to either quit or upgrade.
