At first, this post was going to be about making the starting equipment (The white rarity stuff you get at the very start of the game) available in the tower for those who wanted to REALLY challenge themselves in the Crucible...but I thought maybe it could be taken a step further. What I'm talking about is a series of challenges, the theme of which is to prove that guardians are capable without the gear they rely on in regular combat. Equipment I'll use the Titan as an example. This is the equipment Titans would have to equip for the Trial. Khvostov 7G-O2 Auto Rifle (5 Attack) Preacher MK. 20 Shotgun (5 Attack) Baron RS/2A Rocket Launcher (17 Attack) Generalist Shell (5 Defense) Lightmail Helmet (5 Defense) Lightmail Gauntlets (5 Defense) Lightmail Chest Armor (5 Defense) Lightmail Leg Armor (5 Defense) Mark of the Risen (5 Defense) Sparrow S-10. Plus a white Artifact that could be introduced for this challenge (5 Defense) All of this equipment for all classes would be available for free from a vendor in the Tower, let's call him...Isaac. Challenges These challenges would come in two forms. One in the form of Daily Bounties, obtainable from Isaac, and a small questline that is started by speaking to Isaac. In order to progress in any of the missions or bounties, all of the starting equipment listed above would have to be equipped, otherwise the missions would be inaccessible and the bounties would not register any progress. Bounties The bounties would be for both the Crucible and for Generic PVE content. The Crucible ones would revolve around the same things Crucible bounties normally would, but with the added difficulty of being restricted to the equipment listed above. Because of this, the rewards would be higher than regular bounties, so more rep and experience, plus some Motes of Light. The PVE ones would revolve around not only killing enemies, but also completing public events and patrol missions. Again, due to the increased difficulty, there would be greater rewards. Rep, experience, and Motes of Light, but also an increased gain in Mats from planet-specific bounties. Missions The questline would revolve around a new faction on the Tower, Isaac being their representative. They visit the Tower, see guardians obsessing over equipment rather than improving themselves. Disgusted, they decide to test the guardians in seven attributes, all the while stripping them down to only the bare essentials. All the missions must be completed solo with the exception of the Endurance mission. They do not need to be completed in sequence, but the previous six must be completed before Courage can be attempted. Perception - Dodging sniper fire from cloaked Hobgoblins and/or Vandals. You need to use your eyes to spot them in order to evade their shots. Agility - Traversing a series of moving platforms whilst dodging rockets. Speed - Sparrow Race against three enemies, two with pikes who attack from the rear, and one on a sparrow who will attempt to get to the finish before you. Strength - Fighting through a horde of enemies to reach a relic that needs extraction. Intelligence - Series of puzzles, mistakes cause enemies to spawn. Endurance - Six guardians (instead of three) compete in the Prison of elders, there are no checkpoints, a limited number of revives, and there is a total of 22 rounds (18 regular rounds and 4 bosses). Courage - A lone guardian must take on a multi-phase boss fight. No adds, and all of the guardian's subclass abilities are locked (no double jump, grenades, supers, class melees, or any other abilities granted by subclasses). You're essentially not a guardian during this fight, you're just a regular dude against a giant monster. Reward Upon completion of the missions, the guardian would be granted entry into their faction and to start gaining reputation. Reputation in the faction will be increased by earning EXP with the starting gear equipped. In addition, as a member of the faction, you are now able to purchase a consumable item that temporarily increases EXP gain (Each one costs a Mote of Light and some glimmer). Finally, from this point on, as long as the starting gear is equipped, enemies being a higher level than you can no longer make them immune to damage from you, you have a chance to spawn an orb upon killing any enemy no matter the method, and you gain a better chance at rare loot. Feedback Obviously, this idea isn't perfect. There are probably a bunch of things you disagree with in it, and that's okay. What I want from you guys is to tell me what you like and dislike about this idea, so that I can refine it and hopefully make it better.
