"Who wants infinitely less weapon diversity and even less difficulty in pve content?"
English

end game was hard before they got rid of elemental primaries and made it a joke because people who didn't acquire these weapons couldn't complete end game stuff. Nightfalls were exceptionally hard in year 1.

There's a key sentence you said there. Endgame activities were difficult for people who hadnt gotten elemental primaries. The fact of the matter is, if you haven't completed end game content, it's going to be difficult no matter what. Elemental primaries were the only weapons worth using in anything PvE related, as they were the hands down best possible option for any activity. Vision of confluence, fatebringer, and others were so popular because of their great rolls and because of their effectiveness in PvE encounters.

Wasn't much that couldn't be handled by the following: FB/VoC/WoC BH/FV/PR/P&T Gally/HoC/CM/Thunderlord And it was awesome

you could use any weapon you wanted in most pve material. Nightfall, raids were exception. Early elemental primaries had huge advantages in vault of glass and so that's why people stuck to them.
