No thanks. They result in people limiting themselves to elemental primaries instead of trying and adopting the wide array of excellent non elemental weapons available in Destiny.
They make the game boring.
No thanks. They result in people limiting themselves to elemental primaries instead of trying and adopting the wide array of excellent non elemental weapons available in Destiny. They make the game boring.
This is the dumbest reason ever. Elemental burn had no effect in PVP. A majority of players now only stick to their go to primary in all the PvE playlists (raids/Nightfalls/strikes) so how is this variety? If primaries had burns people would actually have incentive to switch guns depending on the burns for Nightfalls/Strikes and also give them options for what burn shields they have trouble with in raids.
-
I use far more legendary primaries in year two than I ever did in year one. This goes for my friends and clan mates. Previously if a strike had a burn, you would naturally use the corresponding raid primary (usually a choice of two weapons). With no elemental damage, people use a far wider range of primaries. It really is that simple.

Cough hypocrisy cough god rolls cough
-
Damn, that's some cold you have man. -coughyouarerightthoughcough-
-
Sorry But I don't understand what you mean.
-
You say elemental primaries hold back the weapon pool? No it's the rolls that do.
-
Please explain. Also I don't understand why you're claiming hypocrisy?
-
Kinda agree with you in year one but don't see everyone exclusively running zhalo all the time in year 2. Wonder how my fave gun Fatebringer would go now with all the nerfing that hc have received?
-
Zhalo is a waste of an exotic slot is why. Flame sword anyone?
-
Edited by filthee19: 8/10/2016 1:27:01 PMAgree totally so if elemental primaries were exotics they wouldn't be overly used would they?
-
The topic is about giving raid primaries a burn. Raid primaries are legendaries not exotics. Do what you will with exotic primaries.
-
Vex Mythoclast anyone?
-
You're right it drops in VoG but it's an exotic, not a legendary.
-
I know mate I remember the day I was a level 28 and a level 29 dude dropped into the tower with one strapped to his back. Thought he was a god with his blue flames coming out of his head. Couldn't wait to get that gun. Anyway I reminisce
-
Luke Smith? I didn't know you actually posted on the forums! Also, no one limited themselves due to the Elemental perk. They limited themselves because the guns overall were super strong. Vision of Confluence and Fatebringer rolls on weapons are still some of the best you can get.

Edited by SublimeEmperor: 8/10/2016 2:32:52 PMYou've played for around 25 days and have levelled up one character fully. You didn't even complete your year one 'Moment's of Triumph'. You barely touched year one mate. Just to let you know what really happened 'back then'. The majority of people did use raid weapons because they were good. There were also a number of other weapons that were excellent but naturally would be consigned to the vault because they didn't have a burn. Of course I'm going to use a Fang of Ir Yut over the NITC (despite it having four more rounds and better stability) because one has an arc burn and the other doesn't.

Edited by Mathias of the White Wind: 8/10/2016 2:26:19 PMHe might not have, I sure as hell did and he's absolutely right. The only reason we used most of those elemental primaries were to rolls. If it were just the elemental, then I'd have to say more people would have used Atheon's epilogue. But they didn't. Even on void burn it wasn't worth my primary slot for DPS, VoC was still better due to high stability/impact with a solid fire rate and, at the time, a 27 round mag thank's to field scout. I hated Fatebringer, it was inconsistent at best but putting personal preference aside, it was the best hand-cannon for crowd controlling enemies in groups due to firefly. Remember kiddies; Elemental damage doesn't automatically make a gun good, all it does is work with burns(which are rare now anyway) and takes down one shield type twice as fast and the rest twice as slow, depending on element.
-
Edited by SublimeEmperor: 8/10/2016 2:31:30 PMYou would choose VoC over Atheon's Epilogue on a void burn and hated Fatebringer!?! Lol.
-
I would, better range, DPS, perks, etc. It's an overall better gun. That's just one example. I'd probably take red death, hawkmoon, suros regime, vex, bad juju, etc etc etc over an epilogue. Better perks and better guns in every single form that I will gladly trade epilogue out for. This was year one; Epilogue was total trash, even on void burn, it barely topped 19 damage per shot. The suros alone dealt more than that per shot, so why would I cripple myself with a weaker weapon just for the burn? I wouldn't, no one with a brain would take less damage over more damage in most cases.
-
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you about Epilogue being trash on a void burn. Also you've made the mistake of comparing legendaries with exotics.
-
What's your point here? I said:
...Also you've made the mistake of comparing legendaries with exotics.
You reply:
How? They all are the same, reskins with stats slapped on them, save a few. A few different perks here and there, but all the same with no unique qualities otherwise.
You're saying exotics are comparable to legendaries because their perks aren't unique!?! Anyhow I've made my point. Let's just agree to disagree.
-
How? They all are the same, reskins with stats slapped on them, save a few. A few different perks here and there, but all the same with no unique qualities otherwise. If it makes you feel better, Shadow Price, Grim Citizen, Red Hand 9, Lord High Fixer, Vanquisher, Devil you know. All of them better alternatives. If it really really helps, the epilogue is still okay in the crucible, it's like DoP, except it had the stats first.
-
People already do this with regular weapons. I don't see how elemental primaries will cause more of a problem.
-
Bump. Unless they added a raid drop that is like chroma but adds a permanent (cannot change after placing) burn to your primary
-
That's what many people have suggested. Then you can customise your primaries with elements. Thing is, if you include various different element shields on enemies in a spawn wave for instance, it will force players to diversify and strategise better. One player will have to focus on solar enemies, second player on void and 3rd player on arc for instance. So you'll have to be a lot more strategic in approach. This can also be used in raids. Have enemies spawn with combinations of shields to make you plan and split teams accordingly. I just think removing it entirely like they did was a very narrow minded approach and with a little more thought they could have made the game more interesting instead of more dull.
