I'd say yes, except my yr 2 loadout has been far more varied than my yr 1. I cant argue with the results. Removing burns added variety. Its 1 of the few seemingly silly decissions that actually worked out. I dont need burns, i just need better raid weapons in general. Theres no way vanguard gear should be better than raid gear.

Perhaps in strikes, patrols, etc. But when you go into a raid we all have certain loadouts that we use. It's the same in pvp. Theoretically one could go in and do marginally well with any weapon if he/she has the skill. But when the competition heats up, we pretty much all know the choices get slimmer. At the end of the day burns were removed because they made nightfalls, the hardest piece of pve aside from raids, a cakewalk.

  • The problem is that right now you have chance to get 10 weapons after completing KF hard. And it takes 1-2 hours to complete. Meanwhile to get Vanguard/crucible/faction weapons we need to: 1 - Spend 2 hours of playing crucible/strikes with rep boosters to get 1 package that have 66% of giving you a weapon. 2 - Spend a few days for farming Legendary marks to buy one gun. So, in current state it is harder to get non-raid gear than raid gear.

  • I don't understand this variety argument. I don't want "variety." I wanna use the guns that I wanna use, and that was stuff like Fatebringer or VoC. Variety is the lack of having any one thing that you really like. Because if I really WANTED to use something other then FB, I would. But I just liked using it.

  • Or they could just solve the problem both ways by simply creating an item that can be infused into any primary to give it elemental burn, so each person could have their own favorite weapons they already like just have an added bonus. If they didn't want people to have tons of elemental primaries, they could limit how many of those items you could get per account, or make the item only work on exotic primaries, or hell even make it a temporary buff item you could use, but perhaps have a cool-down waiting period like ammo synths. There are many ways that they could incorporate elemental damage into primaries, but the real reason they removed it is because it made their content too easy because everything was just a bullet sponge. Since Taken King they have added more variety and style to some bosses, and if they continue to do that to a greater scale and more often then they won't have to nerf primary's elemental factor just so content take longer and is artificially harder.

  • I've been saying this for over a year now. Even near the beginning of year one I was saying we needed something like a gem system to give exotic primaries burns.

  • Believe me you aren't alone. I've posted threads about this ever since they removed elemental primaries and called them out on the lame ass excuse Luke said about 'variety'. There have been tons of people talking about it (on here and other sites like reddit), and making suggestions like this for ages. Honestly though, I don't expect primary elemental weapons back until Destiny 2 where hopefully there will be better AI and consistently more complex bosses/scenarios. If it happens before I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Nobody loved using fb or voc more than me bro. I used those pretty much the entirety of yr 1. Sure they were amazing guns, but the burns had a whole lot to do with it too. I actualy prefered the feel of mida in yr 1, but i'd use voc as my scout choice over it because im not gonna pass up solar burn right? But heres the thing, if i loved fatebringer so much then why dont i use my imago loop with fb perks? The answer is, now that ive used more guns, i realise it was just the burns that tipped the scale in my deccision making. In yr 2, suddenly im using most exotic primarys, im using vanguard guns again, im thinking about range and impact over burns. Im thinking about the best way to pair exotic perks with my subclass. All this is the variety im talking about. Not to mention im now much better at using all the weapon archetypes because im exploring more varied loadout options.

  • In disagree with you. If I had an Imago drop with the Fatebringer perks, that's probably what if use 90% of the time in PVE content, if it actually felt similar to FB. The only positive that came from lack of burns was that some exotic primaries became a little more viable, but only because of the lack of good alternatives.

  • It feels exactly like fatebringer bro. And i spent 3 days farming it. I still use it regularly so it was worth it to me. But i enjoy so much more now that it will never be a perma slot like fb. It might just be me but variety deffinitely works for me.
