Brumal Insurgence DLC Preface

Brumal Insurgence Preface This is a long cut scene with no subtitles and nothing is spoken in English. The scene sort of talks for itself. It starts in a dimly lit room made entirely of metal. In the back of the room is a Psion, similar to the Flayers from The Dust Palace strike but it is larger, it's helmet is covered in spikes and it's cape is white. The Psion is hung by its feet on the ceiling, it is struggling. There is a large, handcuff like mechanism around its arms and it seems to be shocking the Psion. There are no distinguishing features in the fairly small room other than a small, red potted plant growing in the corner and a Cabal esq monitor in the corner, shut off. There is a loud boom heard and the room shakes. There is a faint siren heard, muffled by the metal door. After a minute of struggling the handcuff clicks and falls to the ground. The Psion's hand glows and it reattaches itself to its hands, but the lights are off and it stops shocking the Psion. Suddenly the door slides open. A Centurion walks in. It has a short conversation with the Psion, still stuck to the ceiling and with the handcuffs on. The Psion seems very distressed and begins to frantically struggle, to no avail. The Centurion laughs, a strange series of Cabal grunts. The monitor turns on, it shows two Psions in a room not to different from this, huddled in a corner with what appears to be a firing squad of two legionaries standing over them. The Psion struggles harder. The Centurion looks at the monitor and says something. The Legionaries on the other side seem to hear, and proceed to shoot the two Psions dead. The Psion hung to the ceiling screeches, seemingly in pain. The Centurion seems to say something to the Psion, but is interrupted by the shouting of the Legionaries in the monitor. They slowly, seemingly against their wills, raise their guns at each other and shoot one another. The Centurion shouts something into a radio and runs out of the room, but as he is running through the doorway, the door slams shut violently, essentially cutting the Centurion in half. The handcuffs fall to the ground, and the Psion jumps down from the ceiling, landing on its feet. It falls to its knees, grieving for a minute. This is interrupted by another loud boom and the room shaking. The door opens, the Psion gets up, brushes himself off, and takes the plant and puts it over the Centurion, it quickly grows to cover the body of the Centurion. The Psion walks into a hallway, with many doors just like the one it went through on either side of the hall. There are two Legionary guards. Their heads implode inward. Another boom and the building shakes again, this time knocking some cement from the ceiling down. The Psion lifts his arms and all of the doors open up, letting out numerous Psions that swell us and fill the hall. He seems to lead them in the front, barking orders. They walk down a corridor and come across a large door girded by a Colossus. He starts to shoot at the Psions but two step up and make a wall of ice protecting them. Then a small ball of void appears and moves through the ice as if it was nothing. It hits the confused Colossus and obliterates him. The door behind the Colossus opens and the Psions flood through, but only after another loud boom and rumble. Inside the room is an armory, and you see the Psions grab as many weapons as possible before leaving. After they leave the camera focuses on some grafitti on the wall made with the blood of the Colossus. It looks something like this: http://imgur.com/kjXuIfy (pardon the shit artwork). The group of Psions moves through the complex and another loud boom is heard. They reach a small double file line of Legionaries. The main Psion puts up his hand and a door from the side flies out and crushes the majority of the Legionaries against the adjacent wall. The survivors are shot to death. The group of Psions encounter a fork in the path. The main Psion ushers the group to go right while he sticks left. They begrudgingly agree. He makes his way down the hall, blasting another group of Legionaries. Another boom is heard, but this time louder. A distance down the tunnel, you see the roof collapse. The Psion encounters another door, which he violently rips from the wall, and runs in. It is quickly apparent this was the room previously shown on the monitor. There are two dead Legionaries on the floor. I'm the corner is one dead Psion and another bleeding out. The living is slumped against the wall with the dead one's head on its lap. The head Psion rushes over and drops to its knees. After a moment of grieving there is a short exchange between the two Psions. It ends with the dying Psion limply handing the head one a small, jagged, black piece of rock, only about five centimeters long, before slouching over, dead. The head Psion looks at the rock, grasps it tightly in its hand, and then storms out of the room. Once in the hallway the Psion lifts up his arms and a whole series of doors opens. A flood of Psions come out and form a group around the head one. The head one says something and the others cheer, except one. That defiant one starts shouting back. The other Psions all converge on him and his fate is easily guessed. The head Psion says one more thing and the group moves towards where the head one came from. The head Psion moves in the opposite direction, towards where the building is collapsed. He comes across a door next to the mount of rubble. There is a Legionary with its right leg caught under the pile. It is screaming in agony. The Psion walks past him seemingly without noticing. The Psion enters the room, seemingly empty except for a large black cube in the center. The Psion walks over to it, and there is a little hole in the top. The Psion puts the rock in the hole, it fits perfectly. The cube begins to turn a bright shade of red and starts to shake with energy. The Psion pulls out the rock, now bright red like the cube. Another loud boom is heard, and a violent shaking occurs. The Psion runs out to see his only exit covered in rubble. He begins to glow, and a blue sphere appears around him. He floats a few feet off of the ground. He moves forward, passing through the rock and metal as if it was air and emerges in the other side (leaving the Legionary, still screaming in pain). The Psion drops to the floor, clearly over exerted. A small group of Legionaries and a Centurion quickly close in on the Psion. It tries to do something but it is too weak. It gives up and accepts its fate. The group reaches the Psion. The Centurion says something to it and laughs. Then it kicks the Psion against the wall. The Centurion walks away laughing while a Legionary raises its gun to the Psion. The Psion can't look. It seems over but then suddenly, *zzzzzzip pop*! The Legionary falls to the ground, dead. The Psion looks up, confused. The Centurion stops abruptly, just as confused. *zzzzip pop*! *zzzzip pop*! *zzzzip pop*! *zzzzip pop*! *zzzzip pop*! In a few bright flashes of blue all of the Legionaries are dead. The Centurion ducks for cover behind a fallen pip, but it is too late. *zzzzip pop*!, the Centurion falls to the ground, it's head blown clean off. The screen pans over, showing a Fallen Barren, of the House of Kings, handing a Wire Rifle back to a Vandal. There are 3 other Vandals, now lowering their Rifles. The Barron runs over to the Psion and says something. The Psion seemingly understands and responds. The Barron helps the Psion up, and they begin to move towards where the Fallen came from, although slowed by the Psion. They run to the fork, where they turn left and follow where the main group of Psions went. There is another loud boom. There is a Colossus blocking their path. The Barron raises his Shrapnel Launcher and kills the Colossus. They go further and reach a large open room. There is a gaping hole in the wall. Outside it is night out. The ground is covered in snow. Jupiter is in full view. This is Europa. The group runs outside. The screen pans around at the base, a huge black complex jutting out of the ice. It is apparent now what was causing the loud booms. There is a King Ketch above. It is firing at the base and the base is shooting back. The night is lit up with explosions and gunfire. After running a short distance and avoiding shrapnel and explosions, they reach a Skiff parked on the ground. The Vandals run into it, and the Barron beckons for the for the Psion to follow. The Psion pauses for a second, and looks down at the red rock, still in its hand. It crushes the rock in its hand and walks onto the Skiff. The screen then goes to the cube inside the base. It begins to turn bright red and shake, then implode. The screen is now at the Ketch, flying away. The base explodes in a ball of fire, only leaving a crater in the ice. It is now inside the Ketch. There is a large room, packed with Fallen and Psions. There is a large, raised area with a podium. The main Psion, who will be known as Bucephalus, Insurgent Apostasy. To his right is a large Eliksni, named Kralis, King Archon. To his right is a large, looming figure. Archimedes, King Kell. Bucephalus is making a speech. He speaks with anger and passion After a little, he finishes. The room erupts into cheer, and behind them a banner unfurls, the Insurgent Banner is shown (http://imgur.com/kjXuIfy) stark gold against black. The scene fades. • It seems a little long for a preface cutscene, and you could afford to add some narration or translation, but I like it. The only thing that bothers me here with this concept is the fact that the Fallen are helping anyone else outside of a life or death situation. Sure, it's not impossible, but why would Eliksni (especially Eliksni as xenophobic as the House of Kings) want to help the Psions unless they had something to gain from it? It's just a nitpick though, I love the idea and if it brings more Cabal lore, I'm more than up for it.
