With all do respect. What do you honestly expect? You're acting like we're all adults here, as if we all know how to behave maturely. Keep in my mind that Destiny is rated T for teen. What type of people do you expect on here? Mature adults that don't harass other users and so call "roast them"? Destiny probably literally attracts 10 year olds to here. When your releasing a game for "Teens" what majority of the age groups do you expect to flock towards the forums? Immature, people that will insult other users. That's basically the norm for Teens. All these people see it as a joke... I disagree with cyber bullying in general but there's really nothing we can do about it. The Ninjas are already doing all that they can probably. Again, you can just mute that person and avoid the group chats that they are in. Don't tell me that they can't avoid group chats because if someone is acting like an ass to a certain person in a group, probably 80% of the admins on here would kick them out of the groups. Anyway... sadly, there's really nothing we can do. Just remember what age group you're talking to though.

Anyway... sadly, there's really nothing we can do. Just remember what age group you're talking to though.
Maturity has nothing to do with age. I have met some very mature kids and some extremely immature adults. It all has to do with the values (or lack of) taught at home. I wholly agree with what Charlemagne is trying to do here, and as always, I am surprised at the amount of BS he is getting back for this post. Instead of justifying the problem by saying " what do you expect?" or "that's internet", or worse "there's really nothing we can do", you should do something however small it may be Charlemagne is doing exactly that, he's doing something about it. This is a call to arms to all Guardians to stop and think about this problem. This attitude of "that's the way it is, what can I do" is exactly what he meant by "Being a Bystander". Yes there are more of them then us, yes it's hard to do something alone. But the message here is that we/us/you are not alone and we can make a difference together. Come Join us!!!

"Maturity has nothing to do with age" Thank you. It's tiring after a while when people say "Act like an adult" without even knowing what that means.

  • Now, with all do respect, Charlemagne is presenting a solution to the problem. The positive voice of the community can echo and resonate with others. If you see someone bullying another use, then take action. A civil duty would be to report the user harassing other users. A friend would go further and check on the victim. Repeat offenders die out, but they only die out when the community circles them, and not when the bullies circle other users. Respect another person for who they are, and let them know they're not alone. Doing nothing, in my opinion, is just as bad as letting it happen. It facilitates bullying. You don't have to get personal to help. At the very least, take the three seconds to report the bully. There are people on the site that can help further where you can't, but they need eyes to help them.

  • Report, mute, ignore/block whatever. There are easy solutions to cyber bullying unless you piss off a huge crowd or someone who can do some real damage and find things on you. Internet trolls are not worth making a fuss over. That energy is better spent battling REAL bullying where in some cases kids are driven to extreme things. Aside from the extreme cyber bullying I already mentioned, normal cyber bullying is not a big deal.

  • All being rated "T" for teen means is that there is content unsuitable for children but nothing inappropriate for teens. It is a content rating and not a description of the player base, which I guarantee you is mostly adults. But even if it were mostly teens, there's no reason not to expect better from people. Expecting better is the first step to solving social problems.

  • In reality it comes down to parenting. Which values are imparted to your children. Parenting has gone down as a whole in this world.

Really. You don't think that there are kids on here? Immature 12 year olds? CoD attracts like 12 year olds and it's a M game. Just think what T attracts. Some of these people you cant expect better from because they don't understand the affects bullying has on people.

  • As I said, "mostly adults." Nowhere do I suggest that there are no children/teens here. But empathy and decency can be taught and enforced as cultural norms (even understandable by children) if people are willing to do the work that entails.
