We have enough fighting in the forums just from the game itself. Plus, you'll just be arguing politics with trolls and 14 year olds who think they know politics better than grown ups. That's a volatile mixture and bans would be given out like crazy.
We have enough fighting in the forums just from the game itself.
Discussions/Arguments are perfectly fine as long as they stay civil and stay on topic.
You'll just be arguing politics with trolls and 14 year olds who think they know politics better than grown ups.
As I stated above, " On this board, discussions would be expected to be serious, and pretty much takes out a lot of offensive posts - as they are expected to be structured and stated in a far more mature manner." - certain rules would apply to this board, a "Serious" board.
That's a volatile mixture and bans would be given out like crazy.
If people were unwilling follow the rules, then they shouldn't have access to the board - aka bans, or bans from that board.

Like I said, it's just asking for trouble. I have yet to see 1 political discussion in an open forum that didn't spiral out of control real quick, especially with this election. People are supposed to be civil on every thread as it is. How well has that worked? It hasn't. These forums don't need more arguing and that's all that would happen regardless of whatever rules you apply.

As long as it's properly moderated, and ground rules for this board are in place, it should be fine. This election is a literal disaster, pretty much all discussions on that topic would spiral out of control. People should be civil on every thread, but we damn well know life ain't like that, so having stricter rules on one area would be far more effective. It's worked great on Sep7agon, Serious board, yeah the occasional gif responses, but 90% of the discussions there are legit, and the rest of the boards are loose on rules.

But you're expecting Bungie to create a new forum section for politics and then have them monitor it with more scrutiny than they do the rest of the forums. They're a gaming company. Be happy they created an "Off Topic" section, because that's exactly what politics are in a gaming forum. Not only that, but they should stay away from it anyway as to not look like they're favoring a certain party. It's a PR nightmare. Ban offensive users that just so happen to support 1side more than the rest and be accused of being a "Liberal media outlet" or "right-wing propagandist" or whatever other classifications people throw out whenever it's something they don't agree with. Let them focus on gaming. It's why they created this. There's tons of political forums for you to join free of charge out there.
