While playing destiny I keep running into the problem where my chaperone is being outranged by universal remotes and party crashes. In my opinion a gun that is supposed to be THE long range shotgun should not be getting outclassed by all other shotguns. Now just Buffon range would make this gun OP so I propose a buff to range but a nerf to fire rate.

Edited by PYRES VII: 8/20/2016 5:58:31 AMIdk what The Chaperone has but I LOVE THAT WEAPON for me it is fine, it has a learning curve but once you get it, this weapon will rarely fail you. It has good range and with The Roadborn active it becomes quite a powerhouse in the right hands (provided that your headshots are on point). My only complaint is that The Survivor perk takes too many headshots to proc, if they could reduce it to 2 headshots it would be fantastic (because you could get 2 extra rounds in the mag more consistently). Make no mistake, The Chaperone is my go to PvP weapon. #ChaperoneMasterRace❤️

Chaperon is one of my fav weapons. It's so satisfying landing head shots with it. And that reload animation reminds me of Terminator 2. I'll talk with the weapon guys on Monday and let them know you would like to see it become a bit more powerful.
-
How that'll be interpreted back at bunige is, nerf other shotguns. No im not saying that's what you said. But that's how it will read to them. Love reloading that gun. Has some good range with head shot. Does so frequently need a double tap or melee to finish off.
-
It's in my vault. The bdsm whip sound makes my neighbors nervous.
-
Yes, I was using it and getting out done by the same generic shotgun build by some youtuber, it's a leaver action shotgun with a shotgun slug so it should out range most shotguns at close medium range and have a one-hit body shot capability in close range.
-
I have the chaperone but never used it but for those who have let me ask you this: does born on the road stack on top of itself, either as far as duration or effect goes, and how often do you actually proc the survivor perk? To make this weapon viable I dont think it needs a buff to range but to the perks themselves, if each precision kill added 10 seconds to the time that born on the road was active and the amount of precision kills needed to proc the survivor was reduced to 1 or 2 then I think the chaperone would be in a very good spot. It simple needs to make better use of what it already has, in my opinion.

I thought that this would fire a single slug with the range of a hand cannon and then needed to be spin reloaded after every shot, boy was I wrong.
-
I say give it Handcannon range. You still gotta get a headshot for the OHK

I absolutely love my Chappy. Since I got it it hasn't left my PvP load out. I'm not sure on the solution, but as hard as it was to acquire, it doesn't even come close to competing with the legendary meta shotguns. I do pretty well with it, but it's not the wrecking ball that PC+1 or CT-D are, which does make it hard to justify using an exotic slot for it. For probably one of the hardest guns to acquire in the game, it should reflect that in some manner. It has a way steeper learning curve than most other shotguns which is why most people don't click with it, but even if you spend the time to get used to it - very rarely will you win a 1v1 (unless you get the jump on them) against some dude with a PC+1, who may only use a shotgun once in a while, and only has to point and shoot from the hip in your general direction.

I believe in shines in the most skilled hands just like No Land Beyond and I think it should stay this way as it seems somehow right.
-
The chaperone needs much more range especially considering one slug. It should be mid range
-
Chaperone is fine as is. I don't want them to buff it because then it will be used by everyone and get a nerf so it is worse than before the buff. Just keep owning people now with those headshots.

Bump.
-
It needs a decent range buff Since it requires a headshot to be a 1 hit kill it should have more than 1/2 step window to 1 shot someone with a party crasher
-
Yes, please restore it to its original glory so I can feel like a ninja again. Man I was surgical with that beast. (Yes I'm aware ninjas didn't use shotguns)
-
Bump. Why should I waste an exotic slot on a shotgun that has the same range as a generic legendary? I've been saying this for a while, glad to see I'm not alone.
-
Needs like +5 or more range
-
imo its good where it is. just been using it and did pretty decently
-
The Chaperone is just another exotic to dress up the vault. After working so hard to get it, it's worthless.
-
Bump, you work so hard to get it
-
More damage, more range, it's a slug not a burst...
-
Lets be honest the chaperone should have unnerfed felwinter's lie range with the ability to one shot to the body only if the person is within a foot or two.
-
Not the way to do it, but it does need a buff.
-
With the road born active it outranges all shotguns. It's once niche is that it's precision shots only. People seem to forget that the universal remote is a precision based shotgun as well. An it only has good range of you aim at the head, something that most people can't do on instinct, given how long it is, and how it handles. You can't bodyshot anywhere as far as you can with a pc1 or con d. The chaperone is snappier, but the sights are a bit too large for my liking.
