To all those bagging on the police

Why? What did they do to you? Why have we resorted on dehumanizing the everyday heroes in our lives? Why is it that we can compare a cop saving lives to A BURGER FLIPPER WORKING AT MCDONALDS! Are you serious? We're comparing the 16 year olds who cant do anything else to the people who are skilled, helpful, and productive members of society? But we can say that because when they save someone, they are doing their job so they cant be called heroes, not unless the average citizen gets to be a hero too. Heroes are people who go out and risk their lives so that others can live a better life. Comparing those people to a burger flipper is somewhere along the lines of ignorant, stupid, and should be frowned upon. If any random person could do the job that the police are doing now, fine. You deserve the right to your own opinion. But a 12 year old on the internet whos been sheltered by his parents for his whole life, does not need to be making comments like that when he doesnt understand anything about what hes talking. Post ur thoughts below

This train of thought honestly scares me. Do you think the police are not fallible because their job is noble? They are not special members of society, and they deserve to be subject to the laws and expectations of everyone else, it does not matter what they do for a living. I'm not trying to equate a burger flipper's contribution to society to a police officer's, however I will firmly stand behind the idea that everyone should be held reprehensible for their actions, regardless of whether or not they have a badge. Nobody is saying that all cops are bad, this is not the issue here. The issue is when a cop abuses his power, or demonstrates an inability to justifiably have this power, you're okay with it because their job puts their life at risk more than another individual. That is not okay. That is what allows people to gain too much power.

    • Of course being a good officer or a firefighter or something or those sorts makes you a hero for doing your job. Burger flippers don't get shot at or run through burning buildings.

      • Honestly with the way the media is blowing things out of proportion and demonizing certain people just to get views how can the law in turn not be on edge. I mean its like being a lion tamer but having to tame a hungry lion. the media portrays each side in a way that makes them seem more prone to violence so how else can one react? Simply put the police are being portayed as being trigger happy executioners and in turn those who are part of groups like blm respond in the worst possible way provoking police into action with their marches and halting traffic which in turn makes them come off as a group of misguided individuals.

Like with everything else, the bad apples stir everyone into a generalizing frenzy. Then the media polarizes it and people feel the need to pick a side. That goes for BOTH sides of this current issue.

      • I agree. I know a lot of cops, and they're all great people. It's sad to imagine people like them being killed like the ones in Dallas.

      • Most videos show that bad part of the police but when I read an article the civilian did a crime. Most people who bash on cops are kids or either people who don't have an education or either to sacred to serve their country and don't see how hard it is.

      • i find it interesting that a lot of videos you see involving "police brutality" show the "innocent bystander" harassing the police first, like i saw a video once where this guy walks up to a police officer and starts having a go at him and you can hear the police officer responding calmly then the guy slaps the police officer round the face so the police officer puts him in cuffs and the whole time this guy is screaming "i'm innocent, police brutality" and the video itself was captioned shocking police brutality and everyone in the comments were going on about how despicable the police officer was when the guy clearly committed both harassment (which is a crime) and assault on a police officer (also a crime) before anyone says it yes i know there is actual police brutality but a lot of footage of police brutality is actually just people provoking officers into arresting them by doing things that seem minor in a video to appear as though they are innocent, people should focus on the real cases like that guy that got shot in the leg when he was laying on the ground with his hands up

      • The amount of press they get reinforces people's negative opinions about them, people spread their opinions like memes on the Internet and after a while, you'll have people mobbing on the street because they simply cannot think for themselves and have only taken on another persons opinion instead of their own. #deepbro

      • Because its cool to hate them? It starts off with "-blam!- the pigs man hahaha 420 4 lyf who needs those bitches" then someone stubs their little toe and the song turns into "Someone call the 911, what's the number again!?" I was in Atlanta during the black lives matter protest, there was a white guy holding the sign "-blam!- the police", I sat there on the balcony overlooking the street and watched him get his ass kicked by a couple protestors that were there just to use the protest for violence. I still sat there laughing my ass off as he was giving his statement to one police officer standing right next to his "-blam!- the police" sign while another officer was administering first aid to his face. Most people are by nature contrarian -blam!-s, they all think the law is there to keep them from having fun so they hate people doing their best to make sure that law is enforced. Then they use that one bad apple to paint all cops as bad. Its the same race baiting tactic that's been used by every hate group against every race at one point or another, its the same old "-blam!- the soldiers" hippie crap from 70 years ago.

      • What do expect under our current president. He announced his run for president in the home of someone who led a group that bombed police departments, and considered themselves allied with the Black Liberation Army back in the day. At every turn he's sided against the police, "The Cambridge police acted stupidity", sending White House reps to Mike Brown's funeral, inviting BLM to the White House, and calling the police bigots at a memorial service for police slain by a BLM supporter.

My thoughts are simple: The liberal media, and to an extent the Obama administration, has purposely fomented hatred and distrust of law enforcement based on a false narrative that police are a danger to the people they serve and protect. Let me break it down for you- Hands up, don't shoot was based on a lie. Mike Brown was a violent criminal who assaulted an old man before robbing him then attacked a cop and tried to take his gun. We are all better off now that he's dead. Eric Garner was a career criminal with close to 40 prior arrests....this guy has over 30 priors; a veritable Ph.D. in getting arrested, and he still resists arrest. Maybe he didn't deserve to die but if I was the arresting officer trying to bring this fat bastard down I would have choked him too. He died of a heart attack because he was FAT and couldn't take the stress of being arrested and struggling with officers. Alton Sterling was a scumbag pedophile out on parole who was also a career criminal and reached for a gun while police struggled to cuff him. Anyone who thinks the guy on the bottom can't shoot the guy on top I have 2 words for you: George Zimmerman. Most of these shootingthat the media fixated on are either totally justified or very different from how they are first portrayed.

          • Not going to get into any of the post other than why I personally don't like cops, not saying all are like this: Dark car kept driving past my house slowly as I was about to leave to play basketball with my friends. As I headed down the street, the sirens blasted and I pulled over. Undercover officer walks up to window, another officer is standing on the other side of the car. "license and registration", hand it over, told registration is expired. Registration was clearly not expired, it was good til 2014, this was 2013. Officers walk back to car. They then walk back over to my car, open my door and pull me out and put me jn the back of a cop car, wasn't told I was detained or anything. I am driven down to the station, not a word said to me why they illegally opened and searched my car and why I was in the back of a police cruiser. At presinct, I am forced to wait in a hallway, I ask for water , one cop says he'll get me a bottle, but the other cop says I have to pay for it. I have no money, my wallet was in my car. I am then held, handcuffed to a chair in some room, not told why u am there, nobody has answered any questions. Officer comes in room, it is now 8pm, I was supposed to pick up my dad 2 hrs ago. Police pick him up for me and bring him to my house, they get him to give them permission to search my house, they find nothing, I am released at 9pm, no car, it was left on the side of the road, walked home in the rain. Was held there for 7hrs, not told why I was there.

            • Its very simple people hate cops because they are convenient scape goats. They also cannot separate reality from propaganda. People do not wish to discuss the real problems that is gang culture, anarchy movements, and a culture that promotes "do as thou wilt." 1. There are less police shootings this year than last year yet there are more cops killed this year because of the hate directed towards them. 2. Cops kill more whites than blacks yet they are considered racist and prejudice against blacks only because the media focuses on it. 3. No one ever follows up on cases. The true examples of overreach and police brutality are often met with extreme consequences such as jail time. The media ignores this so it makes it seem as if the cops who were wrong get off scott-free. Yet when the evidence is in support of cops its "corruption". 4. People do not understand what cops go through and think its only a "job" yet most would not be qualified for it, they only think they would be. 5. People seem to truly believe that no one ever does anything wrong. A man reaches for a gun and gets shot he is innocent in their minds. A man with a felony record as long as my arm who attacks people on the street is a saint. And a man that actively shoots and targets cops because he thinks they are racist, as they protect a BLM march, is a "hero." People who think like this are no more than hateful anarchists who want to get away with anything. Does police brutality happen? Yes. Is that cause to kill cops and ignore laws? No. Especially when the numbers are much lower and when a cop is in the wrong more often than not they face the consequences.

                  • The whole Police force attitude needs to change before people start having a different attitudes towards them. I love the "idea" of being a Policeman, upholding the law, protecting the people yadiyadiyadda (kinda noble), but i could never be one as i don't want to be associated with those mongrels. Unfortunatly, instead of dressing them like important, friendly member of society, they hire any degenerate, dress them in black and give them a thick as utility belt full of weapons. Instead of there attitude being friendly, helpfull and just towards the community, they usualy walk around in packs likes bullys, beating the shit outof anyone who looks at them twice. Ofcourse even the most well-to-do law abiding citizen is going to end up hating them, it's quite simple realy, if your walking down the street n see some strung out crackhead who doesn't look very nice, you probably don't wanto talk to them, thats the same attitude towards Police now, don't look nice, don't wanna know them. Ontop of that there's all the shit they do. Not breaking the law doesn't mean you won't get harrassed if not KILLED by them, they break the law all the time and there's nothing you can do about it. I like to think not all cops are bad, but in my experience the majority are.

                      • There are a few corrupt cops in the world but they all aren't corrupt. Just because 1 cop goes crazy everyone starts to give the police heat. But if 1 guy at Apple decides to hack into all iPhones for a day everyone will forget it in about an hour after happening. For my career I want to be a cop. Because of all this negative feelings towards the police, some of my friends, who shared this goal, befan to look for new careers because they think they will be hated for life. Stop hating the police. If it weren't for all the good cops, a lot of people could be dead and criminals could be out there continuing their twisted morals and causing panic on the streets.
