The Crucible is pretty close to balanced (just nobody tries it)
I've been playing Destiny since launch and I have to say that the current state of the Crucible feels very close to being balanced.
By "balanced", I mean that I feel like I can go in with basically any weapon I want to use and feel like I can have success. Just recently, I tried out a couple different weapons I haven't tried yet: a Grim Citizen, a Treads Upon Stars and a Water Star Adept.
While each one certainly worked differently, I had very good games with all of them. Not to mention that I see all kinds of guns that kill me. Sure there's a lot of Mida and Hawksaw, but I see Suros Regime, Eyesluna, Lord High Fixer, and Suros Dis 43/47's too on top of plenty of others.
I now have fun pulling old guns out of my vault or keeping guns I would normally dismantle and trying them out to see how I do. Most of them, once I learn them, are pretty good!
I haven't seen or been able to use this kind of variety ever that I can really remember in the Crucible and it's wonderful!
Go outside the box and try some new weapons this week! You might discover some hidden gems and you'll certainly have a lot of fun!

If you lose, you'd lose a loved one....Or how about your own life? What would your loadout be??? Weapons and subclass. Suros Regime? A Weyloran's March? A Nirwen's Mercy? Would you use a sidearm? It probably wouldn't be these options. What would it be? This is hypothetical and would never happen and answers will vary. Phrasing it in this way can make someone really think about what seems to be objectively ( as objective as we can be ) the better choice. In all seriousness and for anyone to answer. What would it be? What's your cheapest strats?

Primary weapons in the game are close to being balanced with respect to one another. But primaries are still VERY underpowered compared to the snipers and shotguns....and kill to slowly given the speed at which Guardians can move. So while you're basica point is true. You're larger assertion that the Crucible is properly balanced, isn't.

Grasp, Hawksaw, Jade Rabbit, TLW, Etc have statistically lower TTKs than most other weapons. You're putting yourself at a statistical disadvantage when not using them. That's not balance. If you look at something like Battlefield 4, where most ARs share the same damage profile, but have different stats that drastically affect weapon handling, that's balance. But in destiny, you can use each auto the same way, but some, just outclass others completely despite being played the same way.

The fact that anyone can [u]shoot[/u] anyone after they are registered as dead (postmortem [u]bullet[/u] death) states the game is irreparably broken. A grenade can kill after death, but you cannot shoot if you are dead, so if you are dead, you cannot shoot back and kill me postmortem, impossible (and I can't shoot you dead after I'm killed, either)! As for the weapons: when a fist has more range than a shotgun, the game is beyond hope! Cover, a common joke in Destiny: bullets continue to register after you take cover, AP or not! Seen bullets travel through 2 solid objects a distance apart (metal wall and boulder) and have it on Clips taped. Yes, clips recorded of the bullet trajectory traveling through a solid steel wall (not sheet wall, a support beam) and a solid boulder. Thats cheap programming, Balance, in Destiny, is a common joke in computer programming... An oxymoron...

I don't play tonnes of crucible. But i come back regularly for IB and the odd crucible based quest. I tend to agree with you from what I have seen lately. I see a lot more variety in the weapons that rek me. Lots of peeps playin their own style lately. It's good to see. The only thing I think that needs to be addressed is the connectivity issues and matches full of red bars. It's frustrating being up against invincible lag bots. But in fairness, it doesn't always work in their favour. It is just as frustrating being one (I'm an aussie and our internet is delivered via potato farms rather than telecommunications exchanges). The number of times I have been laggin about so much that my direct hits are not registering damage; only to find out the dude I am tryin to shoot is already behind me looking for a new target cos I was shotgunned in the face 2 seconds ago but didn't know it. It sucks. And I'm sure its not really fun for my opponents either depending on whether my lag is working for or against me. So yeah, focus on better match making now plz bungie.... Also penalising quitters in a fair, but meaningful way. Maybe lockout of matchmaking until the match they quit has ended?

Agree, I play with whatever I have on that character, Auto....Pulse....Scout....HandCannon......what ever it is I tend stay around the same score K/D, really makes no big difference.

1 Reply1. Get rid of sbmm 2. Balance the archetypes of all weapon categories (currently high rof> low rof) 3. Buff primaries in general 4. Reduce the range of lightning grenades and make the cone more clear visually 5. Remove midair melee cd of bladedancers (its just weird not being able to swing sometimes) ... certainly there are more but i guess thats a start..

(Although I have seen a rise in shotguns recently) And fast fire rate pulses need a damage reduction. Apart from that I agree with you :)

4 RepliesEdited by plope125: 7/29/2016 9:25:32 PMBeen playing since beta and I think it's totally balanced right now, every primary type is useful, their is a good mix of shotguns/snipers. Heavy is still irrelevant in pvp. The only thing that needs work is fusion rifles, and a few subclasses. Now network that's a whole different ball game, bungie needs dedicated servers or have set requirements on connection to be host of a game.
