This guy's argument is so oversimplified.
We don't want to literally go in and [i]take the oil[/i]. We want to go in and [i]control the region[/i] so that we can buy the oil under favorable conditions.
That's how America works. That's what we do. We install dictators, we fund foreign militias, we rig economies.
The first Gulf War was about oil. We didn't want Iraq to control Kuwait's oil. The second Gulf War (i.e. the Iraq War) was [i]also about oil[/i]. We didn't want the Taliban's influence to extend into Kuwait.
It was also about war profiteering, but that's a separate discussion.
