Joining in progress (in a nutshell)
This about sums it up for the majority of games for me. Anyone else?

I know in BO3 losses from a joined in progress match don't count against you.

I like it in uncharted 4, I'd perfer to start from the beginning but get money based on how far the match is in works well

Its that way in OW and destiny. Personally i prefer blizzard's method. You get 400xp compensation for joining an in progress match
