Sidearms???

got all 3 of my guys to 5 for IB and pretty sure I only saw 1 player using sidearms I want to use them and admittedly not very good with them but are they that terrible compared to everything else in the special slot???? plenty of shottys, snipers, fusions but 1 sidearm??? If they really are so bad that they are barely used, shouldn't they get a buff???

  • They're very good, just not popular

  • Sidearms, as they are, are a good pvp weapon. Good for cleanup, rushers, and quick engagements. Best to just go for body shots. It's more efficient, and it only takes 4 or 5 shots to down someone at full health.

  • Three legendary sidearms I have: 1) Queen's Choice: Aggressive Ballistics, Zen Moment, HCR, Outlaw 2) Ironwreath-D: Sureshot, ZEN, Hot swap, snapshot 3) Ironwreath-D: Truesight, crowd control, outlaw, hand loaded Seems like at least 1 of these should be a good one to use for getting the hang of sidearms

    • They are good for point defense, or cleaning up guardians with low health. With range perks, they have surprising range. They are excellent to counter rushing shotgunners.

    • I was trying out Dreg's Promise and even that would get out gunned by primaries most of the time.

      • Sidearms are awesome! Sidearms need no nerf neither boost. In fact that's pretty much the only thing that works as intended by Bungie in the game.

      • Sidearms are a solid option for those looking for utility over stopping power. Most people don't use them because of the inability to kill in one shot. However, they still boast an incredibly low time-to-kill and just require a little patience and attention to detail in order to master. I run MIDA with a Sidearm pretty regularly and it's a great backup weapon. I don't have to wait until an enemy is in Shotgun range in order to quickly gun them down after switching from MIDA. When used like this, the Hot Swap perk is ideal since it gives you the accuracy needed to place shots on target at the far limit of effective range. I also like Zen Moment as it can make consistently landing shots much easier by reducing the recoil after landing the initial shot. High Caliber Rounds are also a good option for making rushing more difficult for enemy Shotgunners. As for sights and scopes, Truesight and Sureshot are my favorites, they both increase aim assist and Truesight even reduces recoil. Honestly, Sidearms are a complimentary weapon that are best paired with a Scout or Pulse. Don't use them all of the time, like a primary weapon. Use them when your opponent is out of optimal range for your Scout or Pulse. It will get outgunned in certain situations, but it has the flexibility to handle everything in between.

      • They can be great at ripping through shields...can be a big help when you get caught up close as a hunter if you don't want to run shotguns. Perks can get you to around 150 rounds total, so you can unload with abandon sometimes. If you get your hands on one with HCR it can be a lot of fun sometimes. Kinda funny to see the panic when you unload on someone. The trick though is being in range to land the shots consistently. They are tricky at the longer range game.

      • Not too long ago the one from iron banner was obtainable, and i still use them a lot. It takes some time and practice to find out the optimum and more importantly, minimum damage range, for them. But in range.. yes. And that range reaches further then people think😆 I even stopped people in mid super with it and was quite surprised! The one he sold then is the best in my opinion (had rangefinder and all the other best perks on them)
