Hopes for RoI and Destiny 2

Hopes for RoI and Destiny 2 Hello Guardians, Just writing this to express some thoughts I have regarding the game in its current state, many of which pertain to the crucible. 1. I think we need Destiny's net code to be totally revamped. There's so much lag in this game and I think it's because of the way the game processes, sends, and stores information. There's got to be a way that Bungie can use the experience of the "Year 2" crucible lag, "shooting through walls" "guy doesn't die" "player moving unnaturally fast" "choppy unkillable strafe" and put it into action to refine the operation of this game. I don't remember this happening so much in Year 1. Especially in the beginning. What happened? Maybe Bungie could do a stream about what's going on here because this is absolutely not normal and not something that we want, and not something that will keep the game healthy. Crucible makes many people angry and this is a big reason. 2. Movement, Gun Balance, Class Balance These 3 things are all connected. They also build tremendous frustration in Crucible players. 2a. I guess we can start with class balance. Basically, with Bungie's "revolving door" of buffs and nerfs, they have created a game where one class has the fastest movement speed, highest armor, strongest grenade, ability to run over 90% of players by literally just running into them, OR pick the ability to generate a whole extra shield on front of them while they skate toward you faster than you can run away with their shotgun out, gleam in their eye. That's right, I'm talking about the Striker Titan. You can say they're being scummy for playing the meta, but you could also say they're being smart. When you don't have to pick between speed and armor, why would you? And what happened to create this Striker meta? Most directly, Bungie nerfed the Hunters. No longer can you see a guy charging from a mile away and shut him down with an accurate throwing knife and a bullet. Throwing knives took a big hit and it leads to less people using the Hunter as a whole and more people using Striker, which to my memory didn't get any nerfs and has only gotten buffs. (This is one example, there are others. Just trying to keep things moving) Warlocks' former main tryhard class, the Sunsinger, has been nerfed. The whole point of the class is now to be a vehicle to throw Fusion nades on other players or to have a super you don't mind not using to supercharge your Tlaloc and melt other players. The Solar nades are useless with the "accidental" nerf to burn damage that has never been fixed. The Firebolts have been dethroned as the king grenade. That obscene OP burn was great at stopping rushes and making it super uncomfortable for someone to, say, skate up to you and murder you with a Party Crasher. Fusions are all they have left, which are their own issue but one that cannot be addressed until the rest of things things are looked at. Defenders also have the ability to throw a grenade that completely deprive you of your super, mid-activation, AND it empties your super bar. Just saying. Both Hunters and Warlocks have less speed, less armor, less one-shot options or options that completely devastate opponents. Titans have a bevy of options to smash opponents and if Bungie looks at the usage of all characters, they'll probably see that Strikers usage have increased a lot from before. 2b. Gun Balance right now is skewed heavily time-to-kill-wise in favor of special weapons. The time to kill for shotguns and snipers is a literal instant. Primary kill times, at best, get into a sub-1 second range. Most primaries don't have even this kind of killing power. There is little counter play between the primaries and specials. Specials trump primaries outright in most situations. Since the Thorn days, it's been all special weapons. This is something I think is a problem, not because specials are too good but that primaries are kinda bad. They just don't have enough stopping power to reliably thwart these skating shotgun warriors and that's another thing that promotes special ammo usage, since you basically need a special weapon to get enough damage out to drop someone doing this. 2c. Movement has been touched on in the preceding paragraphs but I'll say it here clearly: the movement in this game should be looked at. There's something about the movement in this game that combines with the weapons- and class-balancing schemes to create a certain grating on the nerves. Things like the Bones of Eao shotty, or Titan skate shotty, or the way a Warlock's melee completely changes his body shape and head location and distance from the ground. Choppy strafe, choppy blink, et. al. These are things Bungie could stream about and explain. THIS IS NOT ABOUT NERFING or "rebalancing" aka NERFING but about retooling the crucible and making it feel tighter and less laggy. Making it feel more fun.. That brings me to my next point.... 3. Ammunition. The special ammo changes, in my opinion, create tons of irritation that simply doesn't need to be there, especially when PRIMARY KILL TIMES AND MECHANICS (more below) are looked at to ensure that special ammo doesn't become that dominant. It's a game change that promotes jealous conservation of bullets and extreme tryhard tactics to get the best possible angle to that shotgun/fusion/snipe to make sure you don't waste your ammo. It's always in the back your mind that you only have 5 bullets in your sniper/shotty/fusion to last you the game unless you find one of those scarce special ammo crates with fleeting green boxes hat vanish after a few seconds or if you die because PEOPLE NOW SUPER THE SPECIAL because it's so important. Ironically, by trying to minimize its impact in the game, Bungie has made it the MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR that decides who wins or loses. Please look at this. Crucible is stressful these days. Additionally, heavy ammo should be a bit more plentiful. Hear me out on this, because I know you're having flashbacks of one guy having Quillims for the whole game, blowing you away over and over again... But while the current system does mean that that guy has less ammo, it also means that you have less opportunity to fight back against him with your own machine gun. Granted, he could hold his heavy until heavy comes again and then try to chain it that way.. But he could also attempt such a brazen move and get smashed, losing his heavy while your team gets it. In the spirit of fun, if they don't increase the ammo or the frequency of drops, they should let heavy and special boxes fall out of enemies again. Incentivizes moving around to get ammo, less incentive to camp. This is viable! A comment or a like or any feedback would be great. If you read this far you're the real MVP. If you disagree say so. My goal is to get one of our community managers to check out this post to see if they like anything I said and maybe they can consider this as they make adjustments. And yes, I know they don't manually do it themselves but I know they can get the word to someone who can. Had to clarify because there's someone out here who will say it. Lol

  • I hope this dudes right and the light cap in RoI and about the patrol things. For RoI I also hope it's got more PvE then P But custom games would be good too, but will they be in RoI? And then maybe dedicated servers for when I do enter PvP. Also SRL. That was fun. Bring that back.

    1. Numero Uno Must, must, MUST have. DEDICATED SERVERS 2. Balanced gameplay depending PvP or PvE. One should NOT effect the other. 3. More choice in what my guardian wears. I'm tired of looking like everyone else. 4. Sparrow appearance customization 5. Weapon appearance customization 6. Ship appearance customization 7. Exotic quests where I can choose whether I want to go PvP OR PvE to collect them. Just to make a few. If I come up with more I'll make another post.
