I am a 22 year old guy from South India. I perhaps have the most loving parents that I can ever have. They gave me everything I wanted. They stood by my side and comforted me whenever there was a dip in my emotions. etc. etc. I would name few more attributes and if ever someone had to organize a "Best parents" competition, I would nominate them without a second thought. But, the point is I don't want anything from them anymore. I don't want them to comfort me anymore. I feel like yelling at them, as if I were to do it to a girl saying that I don't want to be loved by them anymore. In retrospection, I find that I have feared them for most part of my early childhood. But, what I remember the most was the way they supported me when I was under severe emotional stress in my 11th and 12th. I cried a lot when I had to leave them and join a college in a distant place. Home looked like the best place to be when I was in my 1st year of college. I was in seventh heaven when I went home for the first time in my life. Things changed from this point of time. I have started liking the company of my friends more. Going to home felt like a boring thing. I got used to friends parting me. In fact, I was emotionally so strong that I didn't even feel bad when I had to go away from my college friends whom I liked a lot. I didn't get to spend much time with my parents after leaving college eventually because I had a job up for grabs in short time. At this point of time, I have realized that I didn't feel any sort of love towards them. They were just like any other acquaintances in my life. I began wondering regarding the true nature of this transformation. But, then, I have started comforting myself passing it off as just a transitional stage in life which is bound to happen in every person's life. I have finally joined a company where I met a girl with whom I fell in love.Things went bad when I broke up with the girl. I couldn't emotionally cope up and went home. My parents once again came to my rescue, at least they thought they did. Their soothing had had an ill effect on me. I couldn't bear it. I felt like a loser going back home and crying over a girl. I couldn't look into my parent's eyes out of guilt. I went back to my office, worked my way through the break up and finally restored myself. That guilt made me avoid talking to my parents. I went days without attending their calls and when I finally called them, all I got to listen were their cries for not talking to them. I just couldn't bear it. I yelled at them in return for calling me too many times and asked them not to worry about me too much. This looked analogous to my break up. Months passed by. I still don't even have the slightest feeling of love for them. I truly don't even care if anything happens to them. Also, I don't want someone taking care of me. All I want is to go away from them. I repel even the slightest of the affectionate gestures made by them. I see them suffering because of me every moment. I am going to U.S.A. in the next spring to do my Masters. People have asked me why exactly I am going to U.S.A. I haven't given an honest answer to any of them because it wouldn't take a second more for them to put a black mark on me in their minds just as, many who are reading this might have done by now.
