Has anybody else wondered why the Necrochasm is even in the game?
Don't get me wrong the weapon looks incredible and is kinda fun to use in patrols and other such things but when it matters it goes straight back into the vault!
Now why would Bungie put the players who bothered with it through the hassle of getting the Husk of the pit to randomly drop from the blades of Crota knights which would spontaneously pop up in certain place upto the point when the house of devils launched, now they only show up in that one dark below mission 'fist of Crota' I think it called but please correct me if i'm wrong.
When it finally drops you then had to kill 500 hive targets to activate the cannibalism perk and then lvl up rep with Eris Morn enough to buy an Embalming Orb to upgrade it to the Eidelon ally. Or at least you used to, now it just upgrades once the perk is unlocked. Utter ball ache!
At this point I'm thinking I cant wait to get my hands on the Necrochasm! It must be an absolutely brutal weapon if Bungie have buried it beneath so many scrotum aching steps and challenges.
Now the next part involves badgering anybody and everybody in doing the Crota Raid on Hard to get the Crux of Crota to drop from the final boss and even then I believe he only had a 5% chance of dropping one back in the day! F*#k you Crota! F#*k you! (I know this has changed since so please let me know)
Eventually one dropped and zing! I finally got my holy grail! By now other players had already unlocked the Necrochasm and rumors of it being as useful as condom machine in the Vatican were starting to filter down the channels. I refused to believe, I took it on patrol on Venus and soon realized the rumors were true........the gun was a turd.
So again why does the gun even exist? I've had the gun for a while now and only in one single encounter has it ever made sense. In a control match we were approaching a control zone, weapons blazing with 5 of the 6 enemy team members in the zone I picked out a single player in the pack who had almost no health and gave him a burst ending a precision kill resulting in the cursed thrall explosion perk kicking in and killing the other 4 players in the Zone, but have not been able to do it since.
Does Bungie have a hidden agenda for this weapon or is it simply a trophy gun to forever grace the dusty part of our vaults?

I don't like the green trail the unicorn farts leave when you are shooting it.
-
This is what happens when some employees smoke crack.
-
Wait a sec but eris dosent sell embalming orbs anymore.... bungie just broke a part of their game on purpose
RIP the people who made that weapon chain
-
No hidden agenda, like anything else Bungie does, it doesn't make sense.
-
It is part of a secret Voltron weapon that will form once you've acquired all 4 exotic raid weapons
-
I'm they would bring it up that would be nice at least
-
A gun can be anything bungee wants it to be. What would you say is the best gun right now? It's only that way because someone tuned it that way.
-
It's actually really fun in Crucible imo. Maybe I'm just weird
-
It was to prepare us for grinding for a gun, or getting excited, only to be let down. Sleeper was next to come.
-
Thing is, Crota was cut content AND post massive nerfs to ARs. I mention it as cut content for context reasons... the weapon wasn't designed with nerfs in mind, it was supposed to kinda be Mythoclast 2.0. So think of it existing before the nerfs, and you get the idea of why it became trash. It was a victim of circumstance, unfortunately.
-
In y1 it was the highest level weapon you could acquire. It was only by like 5 points but still was the highest.
-
The Crux of Crota is said to be Crota's Worm, and we've put worms into weapons before, so...
-
This gun was godly the week before ttk came out. It was finally everything it should have been.....then it became useless as our light levels changed and it was left behind. Such a shame.
-
Dont get your hopes up, it'll end up being a dusty trophy alongside the Mythoclast that was nerfed into oblivion.
-
No hidden agenda it was a way for bungie to extend play time. Now it's fun to use in crucible, I get it out every now and then
-
Aside from the many bad decisions they have made, the raid specific exotics not coming forward pi$$es me off the most. The Necrochasm was a serious grind, is fun to use but a bitch to get and by no means is it OP. The Mythoclast as well, is super fun to use and after the big nerf in year one is no longer OP. Both these weapons are accountable for what must be tens of thousands of hours of guardian grinding. But the Necrochasm! So much time for a sub part weapon that they just simply let die?????
-
In Year 1 it wasn't used simply because of the Auto Rifles firing peas at people... Not bullets. If you go to use it now in those same activities, or in normal Crucible, it kicks arse.
-
Almost all year one exotics were like that though. They all had several long annoying steps to complete before you got them. Now you just get em from a 3 of coins. Yea sure nechrochasm was even a little bit more evolved and even less rewarding at the end but hey, thats the bungie master minds at work for you. Anything to keep you grinding and playing.
-
It's a crucible weapon bro
-
Your post is a year late buddy
-
If you use the exotic for its intended activities, it's a beast.
