Does the Necrochasm have a hidden agenda?

Has anybody else wondered why the Necrochasm is even in the game? Don't get me wrong the weapon looks incredible and is kinda fun to use in patrols and other such things but when it matters it goes straight back into the vault! Now why would Bungie put the players who bothered with it through the hassle of getting the Husk of the pit to randomly drop from the blades of Crota knights which would spontaneously pop up in certain place upto the point when the house of devils launched, now they only show up in that one dark below mission 'fist of Crota' I think it called but please correct me if i'm wrong. When it finally drops you then had to kill 500 hive targets to activate the cannibalism perk and then lvl up rep with Eris Morn enough to buy an Embalming Orb to upgrade it to the Eidelon ally. Or at least you used to, now it just upgrades once the perk is unlocked. Utter ball ache! At this point I'm thinking I cant wait to get my hands on the Necrochasm! It must be an absolutely brutal weapon if Bungie have buried it beneath so many scrotum aching steps and challenges. Now the next part involves badgering anybody and everybody in doing the Crota Raid on Hard to get the Crux of Crota to drop from the final boss and even then I believe he only had a 5% chance of dropping one back in the day! F*#k you Crota! F#*k you! (I know this has changed since so please let me know) Eventually one dropped and zing! I finally got my holy grail! By now other players had already unlocked the Necrochasm and rumors of it being as useful as condom machine in the Vatican were starting to filter down the channels. I refused to believe, I took it on patrol on Venus and soon realized the rumors were true........the gun was a turd. So again why does the gun even exist? I've had the gun for a while now and only in one single encounter has it ever made sense. In a control match we were approaching a control zone, weapons blazing with 5 of the 6 enemy team members in the zone I picked out a single player in the pack who had almost no health and gave him a burst ending a precision kill resulting in the cursed thrall explosion perk kicking in and killing the other 4 players in the Zone, but have not been able to do it since. Does Bungie have a hidden agenda for this weapon or is it simply a trophy gun to forever grace the dusty part of our vaults?
