Currently there is no time limit on upgrading your account from a Legacy Console. In August 2016, there will just be a new step to the process (the Account Import step) that will fork your progress so that it is no longer shared between console generations.
After the import process begins, the first time you log into Destiny on a current generation console (Xbox one or PS4) you will be prompted to import your progress. After you do this your progress on legacy and current generation consoles will become separated.

So, the progress made until the 16th of August is saved, and after that all progress made on the legacy console will stay on the legacy console, right? Lets say, i have an auto rifle, day 16 comes, i keep playing and i win a pulse rifle. Once i do the account import, i will only have the auto rifle? if thats the case, its really no problem,since i wont lose anything that i currently have and like. Any way, thanks for your ''time and patience'' to answer to me.

If you haven't imported your progress by that date, that is fine. Your progress will still import at a later date. That's just when the import process begins. You can continue playing on a legacy console, as there is no deadline for upgrading given yet. The time your progress becomes split is the first time you log into a current generation console (after the import process begins).

Oh,Nice! I though that the 16th was the deadline, and after that,the progress would bifurcate. Thats is just the case if i alredy have the account on ps4. Thanks for the help!
