i thought when i first found out about destiny that since warlocks are supposed to be like Gandalf in space then their abilities would be about using space magic all the time, such as instead of grenades our grenade ability would be like firing little void lasers from our palms or having a little flame throwers, that do little bits of damage but can be spammed or sustained to do real damage, then hunters would get abilities that buff their weapons and they would have like timed explosives and mines since they were supposed to be the gunslinger/sneaky spec ops sort of character and titans would get abilities that allow them to go into the fray and wreck face like a dash similar to biotic dash in mass effect, that deals damage to all enemies near the path and deals a ton of damage to an enemy hit directly, then have proper grenades since they are like the "master chief" style character

This is what would be great, but with the PvP centric model of Destiny, the classes will always be basically the exact same with no cool abilities because that would create unbalances in PvP. Sad that PvE suffers, but Destiny tries to bring both PvE and PvP. As a result, PvE still has cool content to play, but the abilities and gear is all the same across the board for every class. A game like Mass Effect can have cool and interesting abilities that make each class really unique and gear that has awesome abilities, because there is no PvP to worry about balance.

Overwatch managed to pull off the first part pretty well I think.

I thought that by picking a warlock, guns would be a second thought where I could use magic instead. I was WRONG!!! I still main a warlock in hopes that his true potential might be met someday. Sometimes I see warlocks farming for a god-roll grasp of Malock, and I say "What have we become?"😧
