No Man's Sky? Basically an OPEN UNIVERSE exploration game and RPG. Where the worlds and all its contents will be procedurally generated. According to the devs their RNG is 64-bit. IOW, there will be 2^64 different worlds to explore. If you don't have a scientific calculator app handy, that's just under 18.5 QUINTILLION planets to explore. So we may be looking at a game that----for the first time-----actually has (for all practical purposes) infinite replayability. This game will either redefine how the world makes games.....or be one of the biggest wasted-potential flops in the history of gaming.

  • So, what you are saying is, no loading times, and a bunch of ducking planets to explore, damn that's going to take a while to explore.

  • No loading times. The game works on a procedural math formula. Imagine one planet as the formula 2+2. As you get close, the game will finish the formula and you get the physical planet, 4. Technically, all the game does is place the voxels in the place the formulas say, and that process happens so quickly you dont have loading times. As for exploring it all, you wont. The devs have said that 99.9% of the game will never be explored.

  • There are 18000000000000000000000 planets my friend. One percent of that is still a couple trillion. .1% is still a around a couple million

No disrespect. But----to anyone who is old enough to write in complete sentences----there is not enough time left in your life to even visit every planet...never mind fully explore this game. Even if you did NOTHING ELSE with the rest of it.

  • Wasn't speaking about your grammar or writing. Just emphasizing that point that there will be more places to explore in this game than you can do in an entire lifetime. Now whether or not someone will WANT to do any of that....we'll find out in about three weeks.

...and the devs are claiming that each planet is genuinely "planet-sized". Which is why gamers are so excited about this game. It has the potential to be a groundbreaking game....or one of the most biggests wastes-of-space if the game itself turns out to be uninteresting to play. That's the real danger here. There has been so much focus and hype about HOW this game is being made, and the world (universe really) its creating..... ...and not that much to what there will be to DO in that universe-sized sandbox. But the potential here is so great, that I'm willing to roll the dice on it with my $60.

  • Wow, hopefully it doesn't end up like The Division, but I feel great I never looked at any news or info about this game, so I have many more things to question if I were to buy the game

  • The Division is a great game....that is just now struggling with a poorly-designed end-game. ..and Massive's fear of the hardcore player is making the fixing of that end-game a difficult and drawn out process.

  • I liked the game when I played it on my Xbox, and the game came free with my graphics card, it's a good game when you have nothing else to play, because my library consists of: The Division, and. counter strike GO

  • ..and it has the potential to be much more than that. The problem is that Massive made some poor game design choices that turned its end-game into a trainwreck. ..and their fear that hardcore players will find the game too easy, or will gear up too quickly has them continuing to do things (trying to clean up the wreckage) that piss off average players of the game. Like this weekend, I was playing the daily heroic missions, and the HVT/HRT missions....and EVERY boss and EVERY reward item was a HE piece. I think I got ONE gear set item the whole weekend. From activities that GS items usually fall like rain. Massive has clearly diluted out the loot tables by either adding lots of HE items to them...or by adjusting the drop rates. But any mention of this to the community? Nope.

  • I can't argue with that, 100% true
