The difference is that in this case the officer was charged, found guilty and was sentenced to 4 years in prison (personally, I think he should have been give life in prison because that's what he gave the victim - a 17 year old now with permanent brain damage).
Of the 346 black people killed by police last year 97% saw no charges and only 2 were sentenced.

On top of that he also didn't die. You don't see this happening. To often. On top of that if that had been a black guy. He would have been shot immediately.

Its funny becouse more whites and hispanics are killed by police every year. If an officer is not guilty then he is not guilty. If he is guilty, he is giilty. Its called our justice system. It is not biased. It is as perfect as its gunna get. U say cops arent charged when they "assault" black men?.97% right? Find me the source. And notice how in both black men shooting in baton rouge and minnesota were armed. One was a potential robber the other resisted arrest and tried to reach for his gun. Im not saying police shouldnt always be not guilty but in most cases, they have reason to do what they did. But with the rise of social media, the truth is distorted.

Edited by Cerberus64: 7/11/2016 7:22:14 AMMore white people are killed than black people because there are more white people in the country - black people make up 13% of the US population but 30% of the people killed each year by the police. And for an officer to be found guilty or not-guilty he actually needs to be charged in the first place - which in 2015 didn't happen in 97% of cases (and I said killed, not assaulted). https://youtu.be/wlWMunmMwqo even Kevin Gates has common sense.
-
Because almost all of the people they killed were not co operating
-
Edited by Sauron: 7/10/2016 9:49:53 PMGive me proof that over 50% of black deaths by police was caused by them not cooperating
-
It would be much easier to give me cases where they were shot while being 100% cooperative
-
Now that actually sounds like liberal bias
-
Oh, God. There's no way you're that serious.
-
Oh, you've checked all 346 police reports have you?
-
No, having common sense eliminates that step.
-
I dont think you know what common sense is, let alone have it.
-
Really? Because facts back my common sense. The fact that something obvious isn't common sense to you worries me.
-
Making assumptions isn't common sense.

A 17 year old who was too much of a schmuck to just cooperate.

Edited by Cerberus64: 7/10/2016 7:42:20 PMI hardly think that Electrocution, Cardiac Arrest, Broken Teeth, Dislocated Jaw and Permanent Brain Damage are justifiable punishments for being, as you put it, a schmuck.

Causation, the cause was just as much the cop as the kid. Why didn't he just co-operate? Would he have sustained any injuries at all if he had done as he was asked?
-
He didn't have to.
-
Edited by Cerberus64: 7/10/2016 9:56:51 PMHe didn't co-operate because he didn't have to - he was entitled to ask, and be told, the reason for the stop and for his arrest - the cop refused to inform him (contrary to the law). I don't suppose while he was laying face down in a coma with a dislocated jaw, he was read his Miranda Rights either. What has to be remembered is that the duty of a police officer is to protect people and property from harm - not physically abuse people who don't do what a policeman tells them. As public figures in positions of authority they are, rightly, held to a higher standard than the average citizen - a standard that this officer fell far short of.
-
Why would he have had to give him his Miranda rights? He was asked several times to wind his window down, why didn't he just do it?
