Warlocks Sunsingers Nerfed so badly... why?

In the last update you guys nerfed the "viking funeral"perk. You simply killed the only reason why to wear a sunsinger: to protect a zone (either in control and salvage). now, the players just pass through the solar grenades, take little damage and keep running... Some titans can even stand in the middle of the grenade explosion and deactivate a probe or revive a team mate. why did you do this if in the graph you showed (attached) you had Sunsingers already in the middle tier for K/D ratio?

    I can't believe they didn't change Solar Wind while changing Viking Funeral. The SW literally doesn't even work anymore. At least Viking Funeral with fusion grenades while in radiance does massive dps. Even more than Black Spindle. But Solar Wind needs to change. And maybe have the explosion from the Brimstone perk ignite those it hits.

    • Get over it already. I have. Im a warlock main. The best class on a warlock right now is the voidwalker. Plus fusion grenades are the best on sunsingers anyway right now.

      • LOL If you think that graph actually provides good/valid reasons for nerfing/buffing things, then I have a bridge I want to sell you. ALL that graph represents is an average of K/D based on subclasses. It doesn't break down or provide any reasons as to WHY certain subclasses have higher/lower KD's than others and it certainly doesn't provide any statistical analysis to show where the majority of the kills are coming from for those that are doing better. The graph is a distraction, an incomplete statistical data set that they are providing everyone in hopes we will shut up about their latest round of nonsensical nerfs. It is no more than that. I am sure I'll receive a lot of hate for stating that, so let the hate begin!

        • Sunsingers are still "viable" with double fusion and radiant skin for pvp. Which was a build that contended with the fire bolt combo in year one. That being said the nerf was horrible because the rest of the subclass is terrible. The super needs to be something else. Here is what i'd do: revision 1: the super now gives allies cooldowns by default. that perk gets changed into something similar to electro static mind has where you generate a field around you that damages people. except for if you leave the AOE you still burn for a very small period of time. Revision 2: your super gets influenced by your perks. So say you still ran viking funeral with fire bolts. mid super viking funeral is back in it's pre state where things burn longer for more damage. Touch of flames effect would be active by default during the super. And if you ran touch of flame anyway you set someone on fire they could pass the burn on to their team mates if they got close enough to each other. Revision 3: The super gets an animation change. Activating the super causes a massive flame based explosion within a radius around you. If standing still or on the ground your character stops and thrusts out their arms queing the explosion. people within a certain radius are killed instantly. and people outside the kill zone get set on fire for a small period of time and are also more suseptible to damage. Self res would stay the same basically. Radiant skin would be replaced with solar god. Where you can actually walk around on fire looking cool. You have the same duration as current radiance with the perk that makes it last longer. However uses of either your nades or melee would shorten it like how hammers work on sunbreakers. Throwing a nade is changed to a finger snap animation where when you look at someone and press the button they are going to have a localized explosion happen on them. You can dodge out of this as there is a small que time. The explosion hurts a decent amount but won't kill anyone unless running low armor. it also doesn't set you on fire unless using touch of flame. melee would still be basically the same as now. except it's potency would be stronger. It's already a one hit now. But say you ran overshield. your overshield would be stronger. Brimstone's explosion would be bigger and more damaging. solar wind would have more range and push harder. It's worth mentioning in this walking state you've got no extra damage resistance. and you can still gen orbs by killing people with your guns and abilities. And the last slot would basically be generic. makes your super explosion cover more of an area and the kill radius for it would be bigger the people who survived would burn longer.

            Because 80% of trials carries that are hosted by the top 1% of trials players where done on a sunnsinger warlock. Hunter usage among top players is more over all game modes but the actual games in which players where single or double carried where done by sunsinger warlocks. 100% of which used viking funeral. A Nerf was needed BUT! The 15% damage increase via other sources from the new viking funeral is pathetic. I believe it should be the same as melting point, or at least 30%.

            • I thought the entire point of a Sunsinger was crowd and map control. With the grenade nerf you kinda lose that option. The class was originally meant to be such. So I'm not sure why everyone complains about how someone could launch a grenade behind cover and DOT someone out. Should know what you're up against.

            • They got a rebalance because they were unbalanced. Viking Funeral created a big problem in the crucible and now it doesn't. It can still be used to destroy supers, but doesn't creat a god ability in the field.

            • Trials. The complaints about them from Trials players just wouldn't stop...so Bungie had to do something. ...and (as they often do) they nerfed Firebolts with a chainsaw, instead of a scalpel. The damn thigns are now pretty useless in PvE too. ...and other than coming back from the dead, there's little a Sunsinger can do that a Voidwalker or a Stormcaller can't do better.

              • Trials of Osiris .... Biggest complaints came from there... 3v3 combat ... The firebolt plus Viking funeral was doing 160 damage..... Leaving a guardian 1 shot away from death and unable to regenerate health for am unreasonably long period of time. Sunsingers would just throw firebolts around corners... Requiring no skill... Making enemies one shot. Very unfair & obnoxious to play against. Main reason thorn was nerfed. DOTs in PVP are just dumb.

                      • As much as I hate it say it, Bungie moreover reworked Sunsinger than nerfed it. They made it so it acts more like a support class which is its intended purpose, not a miniature Sunbreaker. I hate the nerfs too, but they did make Sunsinger more viable for helping out teammates besides the new SoF.

                          • Tell me about it. I'm trying to do the radiance multi kill part of the crucible quests and in 20 games I've had one multi kill. Compared to other supers it's awful

                              For people interested the guy who screws up the subclasses is featured in this video as well as the gun balance guy. They explain why they do the things they do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGezceQQ5iE seriously the gun balance guy is not doing that bad but the subclass balance guy Grant royally screwed up. there philosophy is to slow down the game. they said they cant buff everything or the game would be too fast. well in year 1 no subclass was buffed or nerfed and it was perfect for subclasses. I dont think i ever heard that destiny in year 1 was too fast. now there doing the opposite by nerfing most things slowing down the game on purpose.
