Like if Engrams shouldn't go in weapon and armor storage

I, and many of my friends, have experienced an infuriating problem since the start of TTK. We cannot hold the weapons and armor we want because some of the spaces (9 plus the one you have equipped) are open for engrams. This may also apply to Armsday Packages. I and assumably many other Destiny players, have many weapons and armor. I like to keeps some of my more used ones in my character's inventory so I don't have to use the app or go to a Social Space if I want to go from Strikes to Raid or to Trials. While we would like to fill up all of our spaces with the sweet loot we earn, there is a problem: Engrams take up the same space as weapons and armor. I would love to fill up all 9 spaces, but if I do, engrams I receive will of to the postmaster. Since I have my weapons and armor storage full, I need to go to the vault and do an awkward shuffling game between the postmaster, Rahool, and the vault. To avoid this, most players leave one or two open spaces in their inventory to collect engrams. And this also adds on to Armsday packages. On average I have about 2-3 packages in primary slot at a time. Since the packages leave near the end of the week, you need to pick them up early and you cant get rid of them until next Wednesday. Adding this up, (I at least) have around 4 useless spaces being wasted. Meaning out of the 9 spaces to hold weapons, I only have 5 being used. Now there could a very simple solution. There is random space, being consumed only by the Challenge of Elders score card and your faction allegiance. The rest is just empty space under the Missions section. How do you feel about this idea? Does it bother you as much as it does me?
