That's how progressive games are... Look at World of Warcraft (one of the most successful games of all time) if you were to start playing right now for the first time, you would have to buy the base game, as well as every expansion ever released in order to play all the relevant shit. You can't pick and choose what expansion you wanna play and you sure as hell couldn't even level up to max level

See I like that formula though. Because it doesn't make all the previous expansions irrelevant. There's still reason to go through them other than for fun. In destiny year 2 there's literally no reason for me to go through the dark below questioned and do the raid because all I'll get is year 1 gear that is completely useless in year 2. Same with vault of glass and prison of elders.
